You may want to "sticky" this thread, too, BT. ;)

NACHTJÄGER E-100 Complete.
In 1946, with the development of second generation night vision, the Heer authorized the formation of a dedicated NACHTJÄGER unit, the 11th Panzer Division was selected as the trial unit. The new forward engine E-100 was chosen as the heavy armor element, supported by infantry units equipped with night vision equipment.

One of a handful of Go 229Bs in service in late 1946, a few months before the collapse. The X-4 was generally more successful with the
two-seat night fighters than on the single seat day fighters, though it's success rate never topped 28%. After frequent engine damage from
gun exhaust, the quartet of close inboard Mk 108s were replaced by a pair of 37 mm further outboard.

On 24 october 1940 a Messerschmitt Bf 109E from 4./JG 77 was on a mission from its base in Norway. The pilot, Uffz Fröba lost lost his bearings and flew into swedish airspace. Running low on fuel  he decided to land on the racetrack near Karlstad. On the soft ground the plane flipped over and ended on its back.
The plane was rather extensive damaged and the wreck was taken by the swedish airforce (Flygvapnet) for investigation.

The airframe was given to SAAB and the engine went to Volvo. The engineers of SAAB were working full time on the development of J 21 fighter, B 17 divebomber and B 18 light bomber, so the task of getting something usefull out of the german wreck was given to the austrian born Edmund Sparmann and his staff. Volvo set on a nice piece of reverse engineering and turned the DB 601 from a 12-cylinder 1100 HP engine into a 18-cylinder 1800 HP beast.

The J 19 prototype took to the air in december 1944 and on the third flight clocked 683 km/h, making it by far the fastest airplane in Sweden. A pre-serie J 19s were testet in the summer of 1945 and by the end of 1945 the J 19 fighters were getting into service by two units: F 8 defending the capital Stockholm and F 9 covering the west coast of Sweden.

14 februar 1946 the german forces in Northern Norway launched a surprise attack in the direction af Kiruna in an attempt to get control of the important iron mines. The J 19s from F 8 took part in ”Operation Pippi” - the swedish counter attack.

It's the spring of 1946, Due to the failure of the Anzio landing, the northern half of the italian peninsula and Rome is still in the hands of the forces of The Third Reich and Repubblica Sociale Italiana, but Il Duce Benito Mussolini has – for health reasons - moved his goverment to the Salo on the shores of Lake Garda.

Here he's busy planning to hit back on the allied. His favorite targets are Malta and Gibraltar. But to hit these targets his airforce - Aeronautica Nazionale Repubblicana – needs long range bombers and escort fighters.

Enter Macchi C.205 Bifosoliera. This aircraft was based on the very succesfull C.205 Veltro and was very quicly put into production. In the spring of 1946 they entered service and were escorting the bombers attacking Gibraltar in support of the spanish invasion of The Rock.

A crack squad of Queen Maud Land Royal Marines* does for a too-pushy panzer on the shores of the sunless sea. Kowalski loads for
the Skipper, while Rico goes head-on at the enemy. The base at Fimbul was destroyed a short time later, ending the short lived occupation of
 Antarctica. July, 1946

* Also, the Air Force, Navy and Department of Fisheries. (Queen Maud Land has no Army.) There is also Time Travel and parallel realities involved, but I get a little dizzy thinking about it. (The weapons are cut down[a bit] from Tamiya and Italieri weapons sets.)
