Nice  :)  With the B4 Hart made in Sweden by ASJA, maybe there was local production of the Hurricane too?

Love those schemes.  I keep thinking it'd be interesting to see USAF aircraft in retro-schemes from the 1930's when they were highly colorful.  I'll admit, the thought of a F-15 in 95th Fighter Squadron markings sounds good.  *wicked grin* Of course, since the descendant of that squadron is the 95th Reconnaisance Squadron out of Offut AFB, flying "Open Skies" C-135s, the thought of that scheme adapted to a big bird is very, very tempting.

stunning Hornets, now those would be something to see  8)

there was in actuality a veterans meeting where a standard F.18C had a pasted on 'von rosen cross' over its standard roundel on one side, i guess it mustv made for quite a talking point when the old boys saw it :D

just musing, any chance of seeing your two grey coloured Hornet in standard markings with white in place of the darker grey as a winter camouflage, i think it would certainly look different (the MiG.21bis and Hawk having appeared in similar schemes)

thinking further re the fully marked up retro scheme, how would it look with the cross marking reduced to that of the standard 24cm of the normal Hornet scheme ? itd be quite tempting to model one and something certainly different on the modelling tables  8)

best wishes, Joe

I wish I'd seen the Hornet with blue hakaristi...

I'm told the "paint" on modern combat aircraft isn't just colour. Some radar absorbing materials are apparently involved - so changing the colour might involve some complications.

Love some snow bugs!  Can you try one with some more white on the top?  Feel like there isn't enough.  Anyone else think that or is it just me?

I have one pic of the hakaristi marked Hornet (it looks more like a Mannerhiem Cross in proportion, possibly in hommage to the visiting veterans ?) I will check if ok to post online and will do so   8)

Very true re the surface coatings of modern combat aircraft, some have special ir absorbant undercoats etc and others require certain preperations (i recall seeing Tornado GR.4's being rebuilt which had a dark undercoating in some areas) I guess in certain situations the 'needs must' adage would apply tho, eg. The ATRF. finishes currently used?

Cheers, joe

re Ram. colouring and IR. absorbent coatings, anything goes really, its all in the formulation  8)

the 'wiki' entry contains some 'chaff' but is a useful primer for the subject ... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radar-absorbent_material

cheers, Joe

hmm, further to 'Cliffy B's comment, the Hornet would look pretty cool with an overall white upper surface, standard grey unders scheme with standard small markings, as would an example pretty much exactly same as your 'von Rosen cross' example with yellow theatre markings again with the small standard roundels ;)

I would imagine that given their location the Finnish Phantoms might have been F-4F versions much the same as the West German F-4Fs with no AIM-7 capability.

love the 'low vis' markings on your Finnish Ilmavoimat Phantoms, especially the lynx, def suits the scheme, certainly different  8)

hmm, im guessing a smaller version of the roundel and marking youv depicted will probably appear for real in a decade or so on the Gripen NG or F.35A  ;)

kiitos, Joe

The splinter style camouflage scheme on the number four MiG-29 is very inspiring.

I have kit MiG-29 /9-13/ from "no name" producer in scale 1:72.... and I dont know, what camouflage to use... :-\
