My son came home from school for half term with an interesting little project - learn about and display your knowledge of the Solar System, on computer, or in 3-D...

So we're  building one!

Been painting planets all day long - so tempting to put little starships in there too...!

So how many planets you aiming for?

What scale?  You can add little space probes too.

Idea; add a little vignette that goes along with it chronicling the history of our space probes.  Showing Voyager, Mariner, etc... up to the one of the current Mars landers.  Just an idea, no clue as to your time table.

Alas, it has to be in by Monday!  But I think I shall find time to slip in an eeny-teeny Death Star, hiding under the rings of Saturn... scale is too small for anything, er, smaller!!

All eight 'official' planets, so some geek doesn't remind me that 'oh, pluto is only a minor planet these days...'     Oh, and the Sun!

That's quite a ring around Saturn! I'm glad that you depicted the Milky way properly, as a barred spiral.

In all my life, till one minute ago, I never realized Saturn planet looks like a Donut... This is the very proof og God's existence! Thanks!

Some realistic painting, especially the ones beyond Saturn. Some aquarium gravel for the asteroid belt maybe... nah!
