YEEEESSSSSSSS!   :) :D

Elsewhere I saw someone suggested a 3 x Avro flight with '558 joining in too. What a great idea, I hope someone's thinking about that.

What about a three A/C ground run up with the Lincolnshire Aviation Avro Lancaster NX611?

And the Winner of the Ebay auction to fly in a Lancaster from Canada to England is ...  Matthew Munson (http://www.thespec.com/news-story/4514403-seat-on-hamilton-s-avro-lancaster-fetches-79-100/), a 34-year-old businessman from Henley-on-Thames in England.

For a mere $79,100, Matthew gets to shake and shiver for 18 hours.

Is that the going rate for the price of a "Steerage Class Passenger (http://www.thefreedictionary.com/Steerage+passenger)" ticket?  :)

And the flight stewards and in-flight meals probably leave a lot to be desired... ;)

No jealousy from me.  If I had my choice the ride would be on the water in a high speed planing hull or high speed semi-displacement hull with an open bridge at 40 knots because wnd burn is more fun than sun burn any day.

On September 2nd and 7th, both the BBMF Lancaster and the CWH Lancaster perform a flypast together over the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre's "Just Jane" Lancaster as she does a taxi run.

C-GVRA just flew over the Hebrades. They are minutes away from the mainland.

According to the various social feeds the BBMF Lancaster and little friends plus the Red Arrows will be part welcoming committee.

I'd be interested to hear from any eye witnesses what the welcome party was like.

Free film will honour a bomber named Vera

"Reunion of Giants" follows a 70-year-old Avro Lancaster bomber as it travels to the United Kingdom from the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum in Hamilton. It will be screened for free at select theatres on Remembrance Day.

Hamilton's Lancaster is the star of a new film that will be shown free at Cineplex Entertainment theatres across the country on Remembrance Day.

The Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum announced the deal this week saying details about participating theatres will be released in September.

The film called "Reunion of the Giants" is about the bomber known as Vera's epic journey to the United Kingdom last year to take part in a series of air shows alongside the world's only other airworthy Lancaster. That one is owned by the Royal Air Force.

Production of the film by Suddenly SeeMore Productions Inc. and Highway Entertainment is continuing.

A DVD release is planned for late November and negotiations are continuing that would see the film shown on television, a spokesperson for the museum said.

Today at the Canadian Aviation and Space Museum they had a showing of the Reunion of Giants.

In attendance was Leon Evans and Dave Roeher from the CWHM. Both Lancaster Pilots.
Morgan Elliott from Suddenly Seemore, the producer of the movie.
The gentlemen holding the microphone is Bob Pearson, the pilot of The Gimli Glider (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gimli_Glider).

In the audience was the pilot-in-command of the 450 SQN CH-147D Chinook which moved the Lancaster in 1979 to the CWHM.

Needless to say lots of interesting x-talk.
