What the title sez.

A little bit for the folk who like aero-engined specials, George Eyston's R-R Kestrel powered record car:

Hmm, how about a Soviet LSR car powered by a turboshaft version of a NK-12?

Potential idea (free to anyone to use):

P-38 Reno-style racer.  Replace  Allison V-1710s with developed RR Griffons and contra-rotating propellers.  Trim wings ala the P-63 Crazy Horse Campgrounds (see below).

Will need to ensure control surfaces though.

Replace pod with a smaller streamlined version with the pilot in a prone position facing forward - almost like the pod under this:

Pod would be faired into ring though.

I've seen a P-38 at Reno in 1996. It didn't race because it blew an engine, but once they rebuilt it, they put a demonstration on the last day. Only time I ever seen a P-38 flying

This was my idea for an 'ultimate' piston engine aircraft, originally it was to be a single seater, but then thought it would be much more fun if two went along. Of course, it could be a turbo-prop powered too.

From a 1929 Science Fiction movie called "High Treason" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_Treason_(1929_film)) while not a racing car (the original vehicle was a three wheeled motorcycle) it still looks racy:

An old crappy photo of and old one, now long gone, it fell to a hard floor and I couldn't be arsed to repair,
Tamiya Do 335, turned into a raceplane, a flying Silberpfeil.  ;)

As some no doubt know the nickname for the German Auto Union and Mercedes-Benz racing cars
in the 1930 was Silver ArrowsSilberpfeil in German. So this a flying version.

Folks:

Does anyone know where I can get 1/72 decals with the various oil companies, Texaco, Esso, Shell, Gulf etc and any other related air racing sponsor markings? I can get a few here and there off many generic sheets but I am looking for something more focused.

Thanks

One of the mods made to the P-38s to convert them to racers was the removal of the turbo-superchargers to
save weight, the aircraft weren't operating at high altitude in a pylon race so the Allison's standard centrifugal
mechanical supercharger was sufficient.
