The Sony Mavica digital camera of the mid-late 90's used 3.5" floppies to store potato quality images (actually, at highest quality, they were OK. You just couldn't store many on the camera).

Same problems we encountered during evaluation of that prototype Canon DSLR was quantity of images that could be stored on the 3.5' diskette.  Image quality was acceptable for most applications that the camera was being tested.  Things like target surveillance of installations etc. but the SF guys were not pleased with the thing as it suggested to them that they would become "expendable assets" once the images were transmitted back to higher echelons.  Can not blame them for that point of view.  Also, this was back in 1988-1989 when we evaluated the camera.

1/48 is my preferred scale, so I won't bother writing in which scale I want things, haha. Also, all injection plastic.

  • A Puma or Super Puma
  • A new version of the RAH-66 Comanche, since the old one is like rocking-horse poop
  • CASA C-101
  • IAI Lavi - the original one, not the trainer
  • Su-47 Berkut
  • Yak-141
  • X-29[/il]
    • KB SAT SR-10
    • Textron Scorpion
    • C-27 Spartan
    • Rooivalk
    • Super Hind
    • More Macross Variable Fighters

Amen brother!

Re your list, please see comments below:

  • A Puma or Super Puma - ScaleWorx have released a SA.330C Puma.  I too am hoping they or someone else will do a Super Puma
  • A new version of the RAH-66 Comanche, since the old one is like rocking-horse poop
  • CASA C-101 - Scratchaeronautics released one
  • IAI Lavi - the original one, not the trainer - by 'original' I assume you mean the one shown here[/i]
  • Su-47 Berkut - good choice
  • Yak-141 - good choice
  • X-29 - Attic Aircraft did do a conversion as I have a copy in my stash[/il]
    • KB SAT SR-10
    • Textron Scorpion
    • C-27 Spartan - good choice
    • Rooivalk - Aerografix did do one as I have a copy in the stash
    • Super Hind - which version?  I would love to see a conversion kit for the Mk.V
    • More Macross Variable Fighters

As I am putting a package together for Rickshaw (Brian) it dawned upon me that what we don't have is the UK equivalent of a 1/72 Hasegawa Weapons Set where we have an all-in-one box of 1950s, '60s and '70s air-to-air weapons at less than $1/missile.

Examples are the Fireflash, Firestreak, Meteor, Red Dean, Red Top, SRAAM/Taildog etc.

You can buy most the air-to-air missiles from various vendors such as Freightdog, Barracuda, Alleycat,  Odds And Ordnance Range etc but it gets expensive.  IE the Barracuda Firestreak or Red Top is $7 CDN per missile.

I am giving up listing them. They all end up on the shelf of procrastination anyways.

Further to my earlier post, a few more that have come to mind - and again, all in 1/48 and all injection plastic, regardless of whether there's resin available or not... I don't have enough spare organs to afford resin, and it's a horrible medium to work with.

  • NH-90
  • C-27J Spartan
  • Canadair CL-214/15 - you could have the parts for both in one kit
  • A re-tooled and modern S-3 Viking
  • A decent OV-10 Bronco - since the Hazmat models one has disappeared off the radar and the Testes Testors one doesn't have a detailed interior
  • An MCU Quinjet - because they look cool
  • Any and all of the Ace combat series fictional 'superfighters' like the X-02 Wyvern, Morgan, Falken, etc
  • I would LOVE a kit of the F-15 ACTIVE/MTD. Hell, I'd even settle for a resin conversion in 1/48, just for the squared off engine nacelles and exhausts
  • A BAE SABA would be awesome too. The canard rear low-wing one with the prop at the rear is my favourite design

I know that I would buy the following in 1/35 plastic if they were produced.

WWII era:
All of the American ones mentioned: T29, T30, T32, T34, etc. (T29, T30 and T34, check)
T26E5 "Jumbo" Pershing that was going to be used for the invasion of the Japanese Home Islands.
M38 Wolfhound Armored Car.
A30 Challenger tank.
A43 Black Prince tank
A33 Excelsior tank.

Cold War era:
T92 light tank
Caernarvon tank
Conway tank destroyer
Saracen

Modern era:
Israeli Namer with Samson 30 mm RCWS option
Turkish Tulpar IFV
Turkish Altay MBT
ASCOD Pizarro/Uhlan IFV (I know Nimix out of Spain has a resin version)
Italian Dardo IFV
ROK K21 IFV
ROK K2 Panther MBT (Check)
Indian Arjun and Arjun MKII MBT
Jordanian Falcon Turret conversion or better yet complete plastic kit based on the demonstrator

To the modern era I would like to add:
Israeli Namer IFV with unmanned turret
South African RG-35/35 RPU MRAP
British Ocelot MRAP
British Ares APC
British Ajax Scout Vehicle
Canadian TAPV
Singaporean Bionix 25
Russian BPM-97/KamAZ-43269 Vystrel

Still waiting for:

1/35 styrene IDI Namer (Given the number of Merkava IV kits out there it shouldn't be that difficult!)
1/35 styrene CH-46 Sea Knight
1/35 styrene CH-53E Super Stallion, although I'd settle for a CH-53D Sea Stallion

There is/was a Lincoln resin conversion kit from Blackbird Models. Unsure if it still available.

Can't comment on the Sud Sahara through it would be a cool kit.

Ah, a big, fat, 4-engined C-119, with a full-length fuselage instead of the booms. ;)
