Title: Sky Surfer
Post by: tiking on March 21, 2019, 11:53:51 PM
The inspiration for this build was a 3D drawing version done by Kris Turvey, for an ILM Star Wars, competition . This is pretty much a hover surf board. As usually, I modified everything to my liking but the over look is pretty much the same. I scratch built this using various parts from my 'box of misc parts'. Now, I have to find a figure that will fit. Any suggestions, please let me know. The scale is 1/24.

Would 1/20th scale racing figures work? Love the look of this!

Could try this website. Lots of products but not sure of the prices. Both Fujimi and Hasegawa have figures and probably Tamiya too. You could modify a driver figure with helmet into a spacesuit. Just my $0.02.

Great model! Have you looked at Master Box 1/24 scale figures? (http://www.mbltd.info/figures/1-24-scale.html) Their"Strange Company" figures might go well with this model.

Will take a look at that link. I have seen some of their figures. Not sure if I can use them but I will have a second look.

I really do enjoy seeing your working Tiking. You have this amazing imagination and the ability to make it look effortless You create these amazing machines out of just scrap stuff and then paint and weather them into a functional, plausible looking machine. I wish I had half your skills in that field
It does need a figure to help convey how it is meant to be used, but I know your taking care of that in due course. Can't wait to see the updated pics when you do

Thank you kindly. Yep. I am looking for a figure already. Just have to see how I can modify one or two to be able to work on this machine.

It is a beautifully executed build, but it would benefit from a figure hanging ten... I like the Masterbox figures that Frank suggests, but as an alternative, I'll suggest some of Tamiya's 1/24 scale figures. I believe they have some women in swimsuit figures that would fill the bill.

Hi there! My name is Kris Turvey, I did the original concept art you based this on. I came across your post accidentally via a google image search and joined this forum just so I could say WOW! What an amazing model! It absolutely blew me away seeing this and totally made my day that someone would create something so cool. Did you ever put a figure on it?
