If anyone wants to try their hand at some USN whiffs, take a look in here: http://www.history.navy.mil/photos/albums/s584.htm

PLENTY of whiff fodder in there from tugs to battleships.

These are a couple of snapshots I took at the Orange County (California) fair a couple weeks ago.  Just for inspiration.  Sorry I don't have more info - only was able to snap these two quickly with the crowds.

After an inadvertant trans-sonic take-off, it was proved that an EE Lightning didn't really need a canopy (not fiction) .... real pilots prefer the wind in their hair anyway....

Some designers never really got away from the idea of struts & spats ... well, spats are always in fashion !!

inspired by Brian's Bi-Lightning ......

Next level achieved, Brian .....

To counter those jet-powered Zepplins, the fighters were equipped with a modified COW gun.  For better manouverability at lower speeds, a Tri-wing version was built ...

Great googly Moogly.

Here's a series of articles under the general title "Knights of the Air" from the Dieselpunks site.

A lot of delightful WW1Wiffery along with some more obscure corners of the War in the air.

Was looking for something completely different when I came across this little preview pic on Google. Appeared to be some wickedly painted zeppelin.  8)

Turned out to be the fuselage of a Wingnut Wings 1/32 Roland D.VI (SOURCE):

Still.... maybe it can inspire some airships. Perhaps something for Baron von der Basher?  ;)
Cheers,
Moritz
