I thought I'd make something different while I wait for some MB326 sub-assemblies to manifest...

So I scaled up a SHADO UFO interceptor STL, carved it up for printing and produced one in ABS to turn into a model.

As you can see it went together well. I used references off the internet mainly and drew some inspiration from an old Dinky toy.

The paint scheme is very simple !

..and I'm happy with the result. Now, back to serious modelling :D

Splenderful :-*
Is beyond the call of building duty.
Like panel lines, lettering and the rest, landing gear and all.
-
How so? This is not true modeling? ;D
You did a great job !

Beauteous!! I'm certain the studio SFX people could not have done better.
-
Very nice, Les.

That's a total wonder Unca Les and a great testament of your limitless talent and skill!
Most enjoyed the build play-by-play in the photos,

Looks great! Did you print the canopy or vacuform it? There's a clear PLA material that can be smoothed with Isopropyl alcohol:

(their chamber looks overpriced)
Did you do an ABS vapor bath for the ABS parts? They look nice and smooth.
-
Just great.
Nice finish as well
-
Beautiful!! Would look great against a starscape.

That's fantastic uncle les!
A myth of my youth! UFO was my favorite tv show when I was a child!

Canopy is a simple vac-form. This "analog" method will deliver far more pleasing results for waaay less effort.

As for smoothing the material. I use a couple of coats of MEK over the ABS and some vigorous sanding. It was the same with that 1/32 MB326, Mirage F1 etc http://uncleles.net/2017/06/06/132-macchi-mb326-resin-kit-in-the-making/ (http://uncleles.net/2017/06/06/132-macchi-mb326-resin-kit-in-the-making/)
