Okay . . . started another one.
This one's the Yokosuka K5Y1 trainer, known as the 'Akatombo' ( Red Dragonfly ), because of the orange paint scheme used on these trainers. The Allied Code Name was 'Willow'. At the end of the War, of course, they were also used as Kamikazes . . .
This is the Valom kit, so a small runner in a big box, we can play the game of 'Guess which corner of the box the kit's hiding in? . . .
quality isn't bad, BUT, there are no locating pins on the fuselage halves, so getting it lined up is quite fiddly.

Using the upper wings on this model, they have some sweepback, which is uncommon, will give the model a different look. These are already in two pieces, so after filling the strut slots, we're ready to go . . .

All of these biplanes turned monoplanes surely means that somewhere in your stash is a project with many wings.

I was about to say the same thing. ;)

As I've said elsewhere on here, other people have a Spares Box, I have a Spare Wings Box . . . . ;D
The spare wings will get used, one way or another, on other builds, in fact, I have a model nearing completion, which illustrates this perfectly . . . ;)
cheers,
Robin.

Oh, you tease!

25 sets of lower wings stacked below a fuselage, perched wa-ay up top, with one upper wing & either a long pole down to the ground for the tail skid, or a fin running all the way down from the fuselage (through the wings, too) to which the tail skid is attached. :-\
-
I think he's secretly aiming to build one of these ;)

It's somewhat surprising how many biplanes look good as monoplanes ... or, at least, how good you make them look.

Thanks . . . :-[ :D
You know what they say, 'Inside every biplane, there's a monoplane trying to get out . . .'

Robin.

Cute!
-
Another great early monoplane!
-
The orange and black look great! Nice conversion!
-
Oh, now that is handsome
Cute!
I was thinking the same ... although, maybe not so much for the single-seat 'Special Attack' kamikaze derivative :o
-
Once again, thanks, Gents . . .
Regarding the paint job, orange is never easy to paint with a hairy stick, ( or red, or yellow ) so five (or maybe six, I can't remember any more ) coats of Vallejo 851/24 Bright Orange, over three coats of Vallejo 976/120 Buff as an undercoat. Not too bad a finish . . . this was the second attempt, the first was too streaky, so stripped and re-painted.
As for the black cheeks you can see, the model should have exhaust pipes fitted, but they won't fit if you attach the oil cooler / carby intake thing under the nose. I filled the large mounting holes for these, you can see them, middle picture here :-

but didn't fancy all that work to do the orange paint, so two coats of black, to match the cowling . . . :o :P
cheers,
Robin.
