It's no good, I can't resist, I've had to start a few One Wing Biplanes . . .
This one's the Matchbox Boeing P-12, one of Matchbox's clever little aircraft kits, which as far as i know, has never been re-released by Revell . . .
Not too much to show so far, just the basic fuselage assembled . . .

Okay . . . some progress,
the wings cut to size, roots trimmed to fit, and strut holes filled. I've also added locating pins in the roots, as there isn't much gluing area . . .

Yes, it's going to have that long nosed, aft cockpit, air racer look about it. I've thought about getting another kit, to build as a racer, but they're not common, or particularly cheap, and money is tight at the moment, so . . . :(

Just saw one on eBay for US$9.99 + $20.00 shipping :o Can't blame the vendor for the cost of shipping, I guess. But you'd still be getting a 1973 vintage kit in the mail for your 24 quid :P

Surprised how well your series of one wing biplanes turn out looking right. :smiley: To me,,, later biplanes like P-12 and such look the most right as monoplanes.

The reason for the complicated Squadron designation above, is that I originally painted the model in the 95th Attack Squadron scheme, but ended up having to use the 27th Squadron decals . . . :o :-[ :D
The windshield was missing from the kit, so I've had to 'borrow' one from elsewhere, also, I didn't do too good a job of painting the tyres, otherwise, it's not too bad a model . . .

Absolutely honestly? She looks like she'd be a bitch to fly, as it looks like her CoG would be either on the leading edge of, or forward of the wing. ???
Still, she looks good, &, in Whifworld, that's a huge plus. :smiley: 8)

The green and yellow look good! I agree with Guy; some of these one wing wonders would benefit from moving the wing forward. But it still looks good. Maybe the pilots called it a “peeshooter” because they pissed in their pants when trying to fly it?

@Old Wombat, Moving the Centre of Pressure (Lift) aft relative to the Centre of Gravity actually increases stability, to a point, beyond which excessive nose heaviness becomes a problem, needing either large amounts of up elevator trim, causing drag, or weight in the tail, or both, to correct. Of course, in reality, the aerodynamics on these planes is impossible, never mind the C of G issues, the wing area has been reduced by half, or more, however here in One Wing Biplane World, the laws of physics are, shall we say, rather more accommodating ?
