<snip>... semi-relatedly, anyone know of any decent Saracen and Saladin kits?
<snip>Xenia, 1/35 Saladins are the 40+ year old Tamiya kit and resin versions from Accurate Armour, Firing Line and Commander(OOP). The only currently available Saracen in 1/35 is a resin kit from Firing Line.
The resin kits are pricey, the AA Saladin being £75.00. :-\
Yeesh... thanks for that. Is the Tamiya kit still available? Also, what about other scales? (1/72 maybe?)
The Tamiya Saladin kit has been OOP for a long time as evidenced by the STOOOOOPID price of a recent eVileBay auction (http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120993110312). Good luck trying to find that kit for a reasonable price.
You would probably have better success finding the 1:76th scale Airfix or JB Saladin kits.

If you would like JB Saracens / Saladins (which are the same mold as the Airfix kits) for a decent price, I can help, as I know the chap who ran JB Models, and he still has loads!

What's with Airfix and their ridiculous scales? I know 1/76 is a (British) railway scale, but still...
Before I opt for those, though... are there any 1/76 Centurions and Challengers?
What few whiff armour I end up doing, I'd like to keep in a unified scale...

Thanks for the link!
Took a bit of looking around, but I did discover that pretty much anything I'd need for the BC Army stuff I'd want to build is available in 1/76!
So yes, deathjester, I'd take you up on that offer...
-
No problem! PM me with what you need, and I'll get it sorted! I'll see if I can get any Centurions and Challengers in 1/76 too...

Emil the Enabler at Skyway Model Shop (http://www.skywaymodel.com/) had one Airfix 1:76th scale Saladin kit on the shelf for about US$9.00.

I reckon I can get the exact same molding for much less than that! And last I checked, he still had quite a few...

Postage to Canada is the missing element from this equation.

I can check on that, but I need to know how many I'd be sending...

Xenia.
Time to decide as we now have a source for your kits.
The ball is in your court... :)

If you are just looking for the Saladin turret, I think the Tamiya M113 Australian FSV has the same one.
-
One specific thing I'm looking for: 1/76 Challenger 1.
(Is there/has there ever been a Chaparral and a ZSU-23-4 in 1/72?)

Matchbox made a 76th Cr 1, but if you don't mind 72nd scale, the Revell kit is better and can be detailed up with some CMK resin & PE.

Thanks... I've seen the Revell kit locally, but I don't know of a 1/72 Centurion - and I've already got a 1/76 Centurion (I need the turret from a 1/76 Challenger to use with the Centurion hull, to build one of these: http://altcan.webs.com/altbc/tyee.htm (http://altcan.webs.com/altbc/tyee.htm) )
-
I'll keep looking for one of those, but might I suggest putting a call out in the 'Market Place' to see if any of the members has one of these turrets, and is able to copy it in resin?

I think you'll find the difference in scale would be so slight that it wouldn't be noticeable.

Okay, thanks... it was mainly the scale I was worried about, how different it'd be. But given whiffness, even if it's off a little bit, one can always say the licence-built turrets had the dimensions were changed for the new application... :D

To the eye, the difference would be slight. You'd need to pull out a ruler to really tell.
