Cool.
Would you believe that I literally just finished watching a dock on the proposed dH-111 Comet Bomber?

Love the West German one John. :)
The tanker one reminds me of my long planned Comet 4 tanker...I have all the kits and parts...just need the time. :icon_twisted:

I worked with an engineer we head hunted from BAE and his last job there had been on the new wing for the MR4. According to this bloke the biggest issue they encountered was the new wing fitted the airframe its dimensions were taken off perfectly, the problem was no two Nimrods were the same meaning the precision designed wings were extremely difficult to fit to the remainder of the fleet. Sort of makes you wonder if it may have been cheaper to have built new fuselages as well.
A bit more whiffy, the new wing apparently had a fairly low RCS due to its clean lines, composite materials and the engines buried in the wings, just imagine what could have been done with a new fuselage and appropriate coatings.

The Kiwis had a similar issue when they undertook their Project Kestrel rewinging (amongst other things) of their P-3Ks. There I believe the removal of the old wings also witnessed the airframes 'relaxing' thus changing some of the dimensions...

Hi bit of thread revival, I came across this article that they planned on arming the nimrod with storm shadow and Pgm. https://ukdefencejournal.org.uk/almost-a-bomber-the-nimrod-mra4/

If you happen to have a copy of Chris Gibson's Nimrod's Genesis, goto page 189.
There is a proposal with 4 CFM-56s. Wings appears to be same but with the Speys removed.

Or see Reply #4 of this thread... ;)
