North American Aerospace Defense Command @NORADCommand

Yesterday, NORAD CF-18s and F-15s, supported by KC-135 Stratotankers and the Canadian and Eastern Air Defense Sectors, conducted an integrated air defense exercise with F/A-18, E/F-18G, and E-2D aircraft and a guided-missile cruiser from the Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group.

Hmmm...how does one purchase?  Request sent to them...

Alas the response I received:

Quote
Due to overwhelming and unhealthy interest from hobby modelers neither of my models are available in 1:35 scale. Also M777 replicas in either scale are being sold only to military and defense customers in selected countries.
Thank you for your inquiry.

And why, exactly, do they think the interest from "hobby modelers" is "unhealthy"? ???

I can only imagine that the demand is too great for them and that they want a more steady order intake.

Andy Saunders @AndySaunders_1

Ed White presses the shutter-release of his camera during the first US spacewalk 55 years ago today (L). One of his few frames, restored from a high res scan of the original film, is a wonderfully atmospheric portrait of his Gemini 4 capsule in the blackness of space.

Note: Andy's specialty is the restoration of NASA photos.

The Ford-class aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78) and the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) transit the Atlantic Ocean June 4, 2020, marking the first time a Ford-class and a Nimitz-class aircraft carrier have operated together underway. Ford is underway conducting integrated air wing operations, and the Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group remains at sea in the Atlantic as a certified carrier strike group force ready for tasking in order to protect the crew from the risks posed by COVID-19, following their successful deployment to the U.S. 5th and 6th Fleet areas of operation.

I see a number of "bits and pieces" I'm quite familiar with on that F-35B.

A few from my visit to the Finnish Air Force Museum ( https://airforcemuseum.fi ) on Thursday (yes, it is OPEN!)

MiG-17 never served in the Finnish Air Force, so they ran a design contest in local schools. "Anni" created the winning design.
