Wow! All this set up a whole week before the GB starts! You must be as anxious about 1 Feb getting here as I am!

Would this GB include steampunk? I don't have a project in mind but others might.
What I do have is this 50's rocket ship I've been working on off and on for quite awhile.

I actually painted it black then a coat of silver which then crazed like mad. So considering I have to sand and paint all over again would this be acceptable? I may make some other changes to it also.

As far as being already started the formula I like to apply is how long have you spent vs how long you have to go. So if you spent 5 hours on it, and still have about 15 to go, its 25 percent done in my mind, and thus eligible.
regarding the steampunk. Science fiction, I tend to think of as "space" however there is that "and related" in the title... and not all science fiction implies leaving the planet. so provided you can make the connection I think its acceptable

One of the original 'Streampunk' things is the game Space:1889, which definitely takes place in space and is
full of steam-powered pseudo-technology. ;D
-
Can I join with my semi started Pegasus? I've ditched the home made hangar walls in favour of the Paragraphix PE set and only installed a few lights
It'd be a good chance for me to actually finish it
And not a word Brian about the Galactica! ;D

I think it should work :)

Jules Verne and H.G. Wells, etc are considered science fiction. Given the time it was written and the technology available I would consider it as steampunk.

While Verne, and to a lesser extent Wells as he wrote well into the 1930s, can be considered the progenitors
of, and a great influence on Steam-punk, neither can actually be classified as steampunk as they existed long
before the latter existed as a sub-genre of science fiction/fantasy. Also both, Verne in particular, used existing
science, technology and conceptsto weave their stories, Steam-punk is a mash-up genre that both projects modern
tech back in time and invents its own 'hand-wavium' tech that doesn't, never did, and in many cases never could exist.
Unfortunately a lot of it is of the crappy 'just put a gear on it' school. :-X

It's as much a visual style as a literary or film medium. There's a strong element of people who want modern things that look classy and feel solid and 'crafted' : a computer keyboard with ivory keys and a wooden case with brass corners instead of the usual flimsy cheap plastic, for example.
