Independence Day (Finland)

06 December

Finland's Independence Day (Finnish: itsenäisyyspäivä, Swedish: självständighetsdag) is a national public holiday held on 6 December to celebrate Finland's declaration of independence from Soviet Russia. The movement for Finland's Independence started after the revolutions in Russia, caused by the disturbances from the defeats of the First World War. This gave an opportunity for Finland to withdraw from Russia.

Nah, that's for Easter. You should try it with whipped cream or good vanilla ice cream.

Happy Independance Day! Just think, if those events hadn't happened, we'd not have "Angry Birds" or Nokia today!

And, of course, it is a good thing to be your own country as well.

OOOps

I was just trying to add the Finnish Independence day to the Calendar, and didn't realise it becomes a Forum post.

The proper date is 6 December.

Let's see if I can edit the thread title...

Some wildlife stuff with music, composed in 1899-1900 as a covert protest against increasing censorship from the Russian Empire.
