I was sure I had more of the Armidale boats & Ocean Protector but apparently I don't.

Nice pics. Looks like the Vietnam boat people all over again.

Except these are economic migrants for the most part and not legitimate refugees.

Some are, some aren't. Some of the economic migrants we could do with, some of the "legitimate" refugees we could do without (& vise versa).
End of discussion of that topic from me! :)

Heard some figures on the number of refugees globally, it is frightening.
I wonder how much the fact you have a phone and you can google anywhere you want and see places that are much nicer than where you are living now has to do with it. I know if I lived in some of the places these people are coming from I would try and get my family out but at the end of the day if you let everyone in without vetting you tend to end up with the very problems they were fleeing following them.

Spotted this one over the weekend on MSNBC, the Russian cruiser Moskva:

Why do I think of Porco Rosso? ;)

The wreck of Soviet Battlecruiser Murmansk off Norway always made me think of glimpsing into another reality, where Kennedy blinked and the Cold War went hot and Elvis became a traveling troubadour. Whatever her final hours were, the narrative would need epic music (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GHAgVFqRmEk).

I think they have broken it up now, quite an impressive engineering feat using cofferdams.

The only Sevrdlov class cruiser model I could find was Combrig's, too pricey to do a "Pristine / last run / rolled-and-sunken / deteriorated / salvaged" five-ship series.

The Sverdlov class were Light Cruisers armed with 12 x 6 inch (152mm) main gun armament. Same as many other CL classes in other navies.
Definitely not a "Battlecruiser" with at least an 11 inch (280mm) main armament.

True enough, but from what I've about the stir their introduction in to service caused, the Sverdlovs might as well have been battlecruisers.
Great pictures, Story.

These photos have just appeared on the the various social platforms. There is ongoing discussion as to their authenticity. So far most are in agreement that they are real deal as the Moskva was hit on the post side.
