Alvis's Atrocities
« on: April 18, 2012, 02:12:12 PM »
Ok, I'll be totally honest here. I am incredibly jealous of the fantastic profile work I've seen done by you guys. I also know it's not easy to do, and can be very time consuming, but the results are incredible. If I took the time, I'm sure I would be able to do something nice, but...
I'm lazy. It's a curse, and never a blessing. So, I figured, if I post something, it might be enough to get me to buckle down and actually look at doing real profiles. If in any way any of you find this to be offensive, I'll remove it. I'm not meaning to mock what any of you do, I'm way too impressed to ever do that!

So this isn't a serious attempt. I doodled this in Photoshop and kept it as simple as possible, so I could finish it.

It's the ATCO Arrow II, made by the well known building manufacturer ATCO, for the Republic of Bananatoba.

I have ZERO skills in Photoshop.  Well,,, can spell it.
Looks like a simplified F-5.
Maybe the Republic of Bananatoba would buy Slowy Jets before venture capital folks lynch the management.

Well Alvis, considering your imagination & modelling skills I don't hold it against you  :)
It takes me 4 or 5 hours to do each profile !!

I guess the monkeys of Bananatoba need to keep their aircraft (an F-102 clone ??) simple ;)

Whiffing is all about ideas not perfection.

Nope, a Roo...though a Camel in a roundel does raise interesting ideas! ;)

Wow...seriously? Somebody designed that? Wow...I'm guessing all they had were straight edge rulers. Egads!   :o

They did have only straight rulers...

Anti-french sentiments had risen to the point where using anything of french origin was unacceptable, accordingly the use of the french-curve was banned. They weren't sure it was really of french origin, but better safe than sorry. :)

As an aside, it was this same sentment that gave rise to the Aussie wine industry.

With that in mind, for a production XP-65, I propose the name CAC Coonawarra (or Cowra, Clare Valley, Currency Creek, ... )  ;)

You dont have to be a photoshop whiz or master draftsman to post here, the moderators can correct me if I am wrong but I think what we are after is concepts and ideas not a perfect beautiful drawing or digital painting.

It's the ATCO Arrow II, made by the well known building manufacturer ATCO, for the Republic of Bananatoba.

Lets see, nose from a Stilletto, F-5 intakes, F-102 parts including half the vert fin, F-5 exhausts, a little scale o rama, yeah, perfectly buildable!
Scratch up those Bananatoba decals....
I like it!!

I love it.

But why do I have a sneaking suspicion the pilot should be a Minion.

Perfect!

I like the idea of simplified profiles : they can support the expression of ideas with quick drafts, even in the absence of more skill or time to make a high-quality profile. And a draft of a nice idea can inspire the better skilled.

The bananatoba F5 looks good : at 1/72, you might use the small stickers on RW bananas for the roundels  ;)
