Title: BamBam Model Productions
Post by: GTX_Admin on February 03, 2012, 02:34:16 AM
Anyone looked at these guys?

Their Wild Boar looks interesting as does some of their other SciFi stuff.

Looks like something from the Aliens Franchise.  Interesting vehicle nonetheless.

That it is - a development of the Aliens APC.  Looks to be more of an attack vehicle than an APC though.

... and just as silly as the original Aliens APC from the design and usefulness standpoint.  ;D

Love that front overhang, I guess they only fight on planets that are fully paved.  ;D

I wonder if, like the original, it has the wonderful Tardis option ... you know, bigger on the inside?  ;)

I've long thought the Cadillac-gage Commando Scout would be a good basis for a Colonial Marines
scout vehicle.

Some brilliant stuff there Greg.  I can't believe how reasonably priced they are.  I mean $50 for an 35th scale Aliens APC!  Either their working on a low markup or have some seriously good resin suppliers.

As for the vehicle's usefulness, it's a movie prop at the end of the day.   I rarely, if ever, see common-sense when movies are made and I believe that's the whole idea.

John

I am seriously liking the Aliens Colonial Marines 'Sentry Gun' (http://www.bambammodelproductions.com/blog/aliens/) kit for $6.00:

In all truth, that wouldn't be hard to fabricate with a Dragon TOW setup and the appropriate cannon along with some bits & bobs.

John

Maybe...but by the time you get those various bits it would be even easier to buy the sentry gun... ;)

I guess that would depend on the 'stash' in question.  I for one bought about 3 of the Dragon TOW team some time ago purely for the cool factor.

John

I had built the Halycon APC in plastic long ago. Unfortunately, it was lost as a sacrifice to the styrene gods in one of the many moves in my gypsy life.  I'd like to add another one to the stash.  Anybody know anything more about BamBam?  What's their reputation for service?

No idea - they do sell a lot via eBay though.

Having recently purchased the Halycon Aliens APC kit from Terry Moore at the last Seattle IPMS Show (almost a year ago) I can only say that spending ~$100.00 for a kit that has been out of production for over twenty years you would be better off pursuing the solid resin BamBam Models alternative in your choice of scales.

That 1/48th scale or 1/72nd scale APC would look nice in the back of a C-130, CH-53, V-22, or the A-400M ;)

Their Wild Boar would look great with these sort of markings:

FINALLY, someone makes Elliot Carver's stealth ship! Now if only I could find plans to build it full-scale... LOL

That stealth ship looks interesting, does it have any VLS capability?  There was a ship-launched TSSAM under study that combined elements of the Navy's air-launched version with elements of the Army's ground-launched version.

Watch the movie Tomorrow Never Dies--it's from that. Does have SAM's, but IIRC the missile launchers are singles mounted on the carapace centerline, pivoting to fire out either side.

A quick check of the link in Greg's original post shows that this company is no longer in business.  The link redirects to some other page that has nothing to do with BamBam Model Productions.  I must also add that this is probably for the better as BamBam Model Productions products was apparently in the business of recasting products from other companies and in some cases not even bothering to cover up or remove original branding information.  Quite shady and also a very bad business plan.  So good riddance.
