Alclad questions...

(1/2) > >>

ChrisF:
Does anyone have a decent conversion chart for Alclad ?

Im going to be doing the Airfix club Meteor at some point and fancy giving Alclad a go but have no idea which of the various shades i should be looking at :(

jcf:
Not sure I understand the question as most of the Alclad 'Regular' shades are intended to replicate mill finish bare metal.
As such they don't conform to any paint standards. Colour choice is dependent on what kind of metal you want to simulate.

If you are doing a HSS Meteor, I'd just go for an aluminum paint, or silver with a bit of white or light gray added,
as the HSS finish was paint not bare metal.

ChrisF:
So would you recommend ALC101 aluminium or ALC119 Airframe Aluminium for example ? For the meteor that is ?

Rickshaw:
The RAF tended not to operate bare metal aircraft.  They actually painted their aircraft silver, AIUI, for protection from the elements.  Which is why they are so uniform in colour whereas most bare metal aircraft tended to vary from panel to panel.

ChrisF:
Yup i knew that.. I just need to know what Alclad would be a suitible Meteor colour lol

What shade so to speak :)
