This started as an Arii 1957 Daihatsu Midget:

Since this was the 4th of July holiday weekend in the US, I took off an extra day to make it a 4 day weekend. I spent much of it working on this model.
The midget kit is pretty basic but not hard to detail. The stated scale is 1/32, but I'm declaring mine 1/35. I added some details, like extending the dashboard and adding a treadplate pattern to the floor (archer treadplate resin decal):

It didn't take long to finish the kit. Here it is in some pretty harsh sunlight:

I made the duct tape on the seat and canvas cover out of pin striping tape painted aluminum.

The robot was made out of spare parts - the body is from some random Japanese robot kit and the head, arm and some other bits are from one of the astronauts from the Monogram 1/48 Space Taxi kit. I made the boxes myself:

Sitting at my desk at work pretending to be industrious when in fact I am browsing BTS and I just verbalised "oh that's cool" as I viewed this thread and focussed on the wonderful job on the Daihatsu and the whole concept. Thankfully no one was within earshot so I could refrain from having to make excuses about a spreadsheet formula working or sumthin'... Anyhow... "oh that's cool".. :D

Nicely done Frank. I never realized that the Daihatsu kit had all of those extra pieces for a diorama. Or is that a special edition?
A friend of mine built the Daihatsu for some SEA diorama project that was never finished and the remains ended up in a parts box that eventually came in to my possession. I could never find any use for the vehicle so I was quite happy to send it and the other diorama related items to some guy in Canada a couple of years ago.

Very neat build, terrific finish and the gotcha factor with the robot.
Fantastic work.
You could extend that into a Bladerunner or Serenity universe without any issues.

Thanks for all the comments, guys! These are fun little kits; they fit pretty well, are adequately detailed and build up quickly.
This boxing (Arii "Owner's Club") comes with some diorama extras, in this case a dog house, a pole, some trash cans and a boxy container. Another version has a rickety fence, a dog (and doghouse), a Buddha statue and some trash cans.
The real world three wheelers (like this one and the Mazda Midget) seem to be well worn and abused vehicles. My model looks lovingly cared for in comparison.

This was a Frankenstein figure - the head is from an ICM figure set of Russian tanker slackers in Afghanistan. The torso (with the hoodie) is from a random DML figure, probably German. The legs are from the DML M-1 tanker set. The arms are from the figures that came with the DML M274 Mule. The cap is from an awful Trumpeter PMC set and the Google glasses (or just sunglasses) are from the Live Resin set.
I extended the hoodie with Magicsculp A+B epoxy putty (although I just noticed I forgot the pullstrings)
I used the base and fence that came with the kit. The fence was painted wood, then sprayed with cheap hairspray, oversprayed with white and "distressed". The dog is a resin pooch from a bag of goodies Jeff Fontaine sent me. The plants are from a train groundwork set. The ground is spackle. The street is some 600 grit sandpaper. I really, really suck at groundwork, though:

I do not remember what kit that dog came from or where for that matter but it sure looks better on your diorama then sitting in the parts box! Great work on the figure too.
