HMBLT - the Build
« on: November 19, 2012, 08:03:26 AM »
High Mobility Battlefield Logistics Transport, a.k.a. High-Speed Combat Logistics System Vehicle;

Actually, this started a while ago on "What If Modelers" & there was a bit put in here in the "Inspirations/Land/MOWAG Piranha, et al." thread

Slow building but I have a tiny update!

Rail around the hatchway!

But it's time to button up the tractor unit, so final pic of the interior.

Interior now has ammo pouches for the MP5's in the boxed area on the other side of the hatchway to the MP5's
and a selection of modelling magazines strewn around (obviously a messy crew). Magazines are scans of actual mag's in my collection
ranging in age from 2008 to a month or two ago. There are 2 TMMI mag's, which I have for a couple of great post-apocalyptic vehicle
builds, a recent FSM (30 years issue, I think) and an old ModelArt Australia, with Buzzbomb's scratch-built "mule" from the movie "Serenity".
Other mag's are just the back pages of those 4.

Just after those pic's were taken (about 10 minutes ago) I sprayed the interior with dullcoat. When that's dry I'll put the joint-ball in & seal the beast.

Cheers!

Guy

PS: Forgot to mention the .50 cal ammo boxes next to the commanders seat!

Found a few missing detail shots on another camera...

Commander's space (upper);

Commander's remote weapon console;

Third seat remote weapon console;

Fire extinguisher (scratch built incl. decals);

... while I was moving these on to my computer.

The forklift, so far;
Right side;

Left side;

Top;

Rear;

In the Guard Van;

Not much movement on this (the grip-surface isn't glued down , yet);

But it does have the connection for linking to the tractor (or a cargo trailer, if I make one);

Cheers!

PS: Greg, this is my on-bench build but I think the other 2 or 3 sitting boxed-up in storage might fit the criteria.

PPS: Thanks, guys! :))

forklift shaped more like a Bobcat .... does that make it a Combat Bobfork ?  shame it doesn't have tracks --- or is that also planned ?

I don't think I will look at this thread again
                                                                   until it's all finished that is :)

The suspense of waiting for this beast to be completed is killing me :-*

Thanks, guys!

Build is progressing but between casual shifts at work (full-time contract ended but they kept me on as casual - so "under-employed, rather that unemployed), applying for more &/or full-time jobs & building this I'm running out of time for the internet , so I've been AWOL a bit recently.

Pictures when I get a chance.

Cheers!

Hello, everyone! Thomas the Tanker is here to show us the latest updates. :icon_ninja:

Work has, recently, returned its focus to the tractor unit.

This is the front; notice the lack of headlight units, rear vision mirrors & headlight guards but lots of rivets.

This is the right side; pretty boring except for the re-positioned tool mount & the rivets.

The top; I like the gun... & the rivets.

The left side; neat ladder but why he put curtain across entry?... & rivets.

And this is the back; & no tail-lights but more bloody rivets! Who needs Steampunk, when you've got the Stryker?

And, just for schitzengiggles, left side & top.

Comments welcome, as usual.

 Cheers!

Guy.

Thanks, all! :icon_alabanza:

Sorry I haven't been around much, folks, but I'm a bit busy with training & trying to get several million things done before I bugger off to Christmas Island.
Today is probably the last chance I'll have to visit for the next 6 months, certainly the last I'll have to post any images of modelling as that pretty much came to a stand-still 3 weeks ago and won't re-commence until I get back.
Interweb access on Christmas Island is, I am told, expensive and slow & my working week will be at least 60 hours per. Down time will mostly consist of doing the laundry & exploring the island, with my internet time (once I've sorted out an ISP) being primarily devoted to contacting my family.

So, here are some pic's - note that most of what you see on the caboose/guard-van is not yet glued in place but is ready for when I've completed the insides.

Overview from left;

Overview from right;

Overview from front;

Overview from rear;

Tractor unit from left;

Linkage from left;

Guard-van/caboose from left;

Close-up of rear hatch;

Close-up of side-access door;

Hope that's enough to keep you occupied for the next 6 months!

Hope everyone had a great Christmas & that the New Year is prosperous & full of joy!

Cheers!

Thanks, Greg! :)

On the island & working for a little while now. Job is ... interesting ... but, surprisingly, more fun than I had expected. Met some of the natives (crabs, the place is over-run with them).

The "Robber crabs" are the most interesting & quite common but the red land crabs are all over the place. I've got photo's, I might post some when I get back. Internet here where I am runs at between 1 & 3 Kb/s, which is frighteningly slow.

Anyway, catch you all later!

Bump! Bump! Bumpity-bump! Bump-bump! :icon_ninja:

Just letting you all know that this is moving again. Not, perhaps, fast enough to be finished before I have to return to Crab Heaven but it is moving.

Trying to finish the insides of the guard-van so I can button that up ready to do more external work &, hopefully, start the paint job.

I'll try to get some pic's up in the next couple or three days of my progress.

;)
