hi all
I was looking at my old KC-30 WIF and decided that it was OK, but not very good and I could do better. I have seena few really awesome DC-10's online lately so I decided to convert this from a KC-30 into a civilian DC-10.
So, off came the refuelling boom and out came the Milliput and sandpaper. I bought some Air New Zealand 787 decals and resized them to fit. Because this was always going to be a WIF, I thought I may as well get a little more creative with it, so I scratched up some wing-lets and sanded them to shape. Everything got stripped back and repainted. I did not have any door decals for the DC-10 other than my Authentic Airliner ones, but I'm saving those for the next DC-10 kit I make. So, I used the window decals from the Old Models ANZ DC-10 set I have. The only thing wrong with these OM decals is the front wind screen - it is completely the wrong shape. But as they are the only ones I have, they'll have to make do. I also had to use the 787 door decals, which are not right I know, but they're better than nothing
Enough talking, time for pics.
Here's what it looked like before I started:
And now:
It was a fun little side-project and one I'm glad I did. Yeah, there are obvious issues with it, but They aren't too distracting - unless your the kind to get hung up on that kind of thing :)
Well, that's it folks. Thanks for looking
