Does anyone know if there is a 1/48 kit of the Yak-36 available?

Not off hand; though I know of at least four distinct 1/72 kits.

The 'Big Book' lists three companies Greg, two are now not operating.  Challenge, Eagle Knight and Wings 48.  As of 2002, Wings 48 (and sister company Wings 72 [both in the USA]) were still operating and are reported to produce excellent vacu-forms

Thanks mate - unfortunately, the Wings 48 one is actually of the Yak-38 (see below) even though they call it the Yak-36…
