Turboprop and jet-powered Scorpions - 1/72 scratch
« on: February 09, 2017, 09:39:07 PM »
On my workbench now...

Sickening, weakening
Don't let another somber pariah consume your soul
You need strengthening, toughening
It takes a bit of dark to rekindle the fire burning in you
Ignite the fire within you

Long fight with fuselage is almost draw :) Engines came from Goonie's  Airfix Comet. They'll be modified.

Hello,

Some photos finally...

We're tried to achieve final shape of fuselage of turboprop Scorpion and I think it's close to end of this dirty part (putty, sanding, repeat...) of building. Wings are almost ready. Engines are prepared to reshaping. These two square things are engine mounts with oil radiators inside.

No matter the colour, what is wonderful is hiding the putty into a final (almost completed) airplane... :-*

I don't think so :)

I am giving up listing them. They all end up on the shelf of procrastination anyways.

As all the above said.   8)
Such a concept-configuration. :)
Under wing mini jets don't get recognition they deserve.  So good to show world their relevance.

Must say that I've saw finished model personally and it's still making great impression :)

Because above published Scorpion is being built in parallel with jet-propelled one* (sometimes even in the same room ;) ), I'm placing a few photos of progress on jet-proppeled version (and large thanks to Artoor_k for help and motivational kick in, well... that place that usually requires to be kicked in order to make things done  8) ).

First few days of work - hull and wings came from some poor quality kit of 1/72 F-16 (Aeroplast), central part of wings is made from old scraps from Mig-17 (Master Craft), Engines were extracted from wrackage of A-10 (Italeri). The only new thing here is cockpit which is an Aires production. OK enough talk, here is how it looks about 3 weeks ago:

A week later, after some serious adding of putty:

And today's look after puttying everything in order ;)

Thanks for kind words :)
It's shame that politics (unfortunatelly as usuall) dumped the Scorpio project, but at least some plans, 3D model (of second jet propeeled version) and 1:1 display model (first jet propelled version) still exists...

Here are possibly the most accurate plans of 3 major versions of Scorpion, the last one is my goal
