Steampunked Goggles and stuff....
« on: October 28, 2012, 11:54:28 PM »
I've steampunked some goggles as seen on the hat.

The goggles came in "Antique Brass" so I made the telescopic lense-thingy from plastic card and some plastic plubing joints. The top is the end of a water blaster. I sprayed it all black primer, then drybrushed in Antique Copper, Brass and Gold. Lots of Klear floor polish, some decals (serials) from Airfix 1/48th Spit 22s, and after attaching to the hat, the flowery feather things were pinned on.

Wearing it tonight at "Vampires Rock" in Northampton.
For those unaware, Vampires Rock is a Rock musical....Zelda is one of the dancers, and friend Mary Garcier is the base player. It's a lot of fun.

To come.... steampunked pistol, gun, more hats and goggles, jacket, etc... I have lots of ideas.

It is almost a bit Borg like in layout.

Let me guess.. poly plumbing fittings methinks ?

But working out beautifully

Well....appalled that Zelda's left the cast of Vampires Rock, but the replacement dancers were super, including Chloe who did amazing things in the air with a drop-down curtain...the splits at 15-20 ft??

Meanwhile, me...pictures of Chloe later ;)

Bought a new flying helmet today for steampunking...already have the goggles. Need to visit the plumbing section of B&Q tomorrow (over '60s discount day!!) and collect a few items.

Plus visit the Hallowe'en  section of various places for skulls, life-sized ones to "steampunk". Fun to do, and something to add to our collection of skulls that we have.

Also, a full length view of me at Vampires Rock, while my friend appears to be cutting a throat...

Also, a photo from the stage musical Vampires Rock with friend Mary on bass guitar in black.

Steampunked "Biggles" goggles plus flying helmet.
The goggles are in for refurbishment, updating and respray at the moment, but will re-appear soon.....

Ha, ha, thanks.

Got plans for other creations too.....off to Stratford-on-Avon on Saturday for Mid to go to the theatre, while I browse the shops(ie sit in the pub), although I'll be checking out the theatre masks for further creation/hat embelishment.

I've a good supply of goggles for various hats of mine, including a deerstalker I've worn for 30 years or so.

Also, decorating skulls....we need more skulls in the house, so with the following as inspiration....

And, of course, me wearing a plain German WW2 pattern Viking helmet with horns ...in Black Leather.

Love that first skull  :D

You need to do a lot more work on that horned helmet tho, Terry -- more punk than steam-punk at present ;D

More hats.....

and the painted skull is coming soon.

The wooly hat plus goggles is useful when collecting my grandaughter from school, especially as she says, "Grandad, you've embarrassed me again!"

The German cap has developed now to have what are actually earings in the lenses.

The Horned Helmet was worn when both my wife and myself went as "Eddie" at a recent Rocky Horror in a very cold Aylesbury.

My wife acts as a sort of "control" and generally tends not to act quite in the same sometimes "exotic" manner as I. Hence, just the standard black helmet.
My grandaughter has seen me in full costume and says I look horrible ;D

Hey Radish,
I think my buddy Mark Counts may still have this piece available, he's sold quite
a few of his steampunk 'Illuminations' and guns.

Everybody needs a skull lamp.  ;D
