YUFAN Models

This crowd seem to specialise in figures & small vehicles but I'm concerned about the provenance of their designs.

I have one of their mini-gunner figures (YU-USK-06) on my work bench at the moment.

Lying next to it is a Live Resin Modern US Army Soldier (LRM-35001).

I noticed that the legs were almost identical, more to the point all the pockets, & all the folds & wrinkles of the trousers were identical. The legs are slightly shorter, with different boots but, if you look, you can see where they have remodeled the lower part of the trousers to suit the new feet. Even the pistol, which is separate on the Live Resin figure & moulded on with the YUFAN figure, is identical.

A look through the catalogues of Live Resin, Black Dog, Legend & other manufacturers of resin figures of modern military subjects (& some girls with boobies :icon_surprised:), & comparing them to YUFAN's catalogue has left me with the distinct impression that YUFAN, for a significant part of its product line, bought kits from these manufacturers & combined them to create their own "products".

So, I guess I'm saying that, although they're cheaper than most, I'd recommend NOT buying from this company (interestingly BNA Models in Melbourne, which had a big influx of YUFAN figures late last year, has removed the company from its supplier list despite still stocking a few of their non-US/Western figures).

There were a couple of discussions over on Armorama about the origin of several figures offered by Yufan at deep discounts.  The consensus was that these are copies of various other companies' work with some mix-n-match of parts thrown in.
