Title: DACO
Post by: Jeffry Fontaine on November 19, 2013, 03:29:44 AM
DACO (http://www.dacoproducts.com/) is known for making decals but now they are expanding to include an injection molded plastic detail set for the 1:48th scale Hasegawa F-104 Starfighter.  This set includes many different items covering headgear (helmets), ejection seats, missiles, bomb shapes, practice bomb containers, practice bombs, and the wings and tail surfaces so that you can make almost any variant of the F-104G Starfighter that was in use by NATO.  The detail and conversion kit is available as a complete kit or you have the option to purchase individual parts sprues depending on your needs and ambitions.

DACO 1:48th scale F-104 Starfighter Improvement and Completion Set (http://www.cybermodeler.com/hobby/details/daco/detail_daco_4802.shtml), a first look at the contents of this rather extensive detail set courtesy of Michael Benolkin and CyberModeler.

This detail set has been under development for a very long time and it is certainly nice to see it finally available for sale.  The price is a bit daunting but considering the number of parts and F-104 variants that this set covers I suspect it is worth it.

So Greg have you ordered a case of these details sets for your stash? :)

DACO Products has released a Modular Reconnaissance Pod [MRP] in three scale as used by the Belguim AF

Several Air Forces flying the F-16 are using the MRP (Modular Reconnaissance Pod) for their Recce role. This pod is manufactured by Per Udsen in Denmark (now Terma). The USAF ANG opted for this system to accommodate its own TARS recce system. Denmark is using the pod to replace their Red Baron pods while within The Royal Netherlands Air Force the MRP is replacing the Orpheus pod.

The Belgian Air Force has 8 MRP pods, originally equipped with 5 Vinten cameras, recovered from the former Mirage 5 BR fleet. Meanwhile these old cameras have been replaced by an electro-optical system (video), a "Vigil" IRLS (Infra Red Line Scan) and a real-time transmission data system. These pods are used by 1Sqn based at Florennes.
The supplied pod is the Belgian Air Force version which differs slightly with the other AF versions (location of camera windows).

DCC7207 - Belgian F-16A Recce Modular Reconnaissance Pod – 1/72
DCC4807 - Belgian F-16A Recce Modular Reconnaissance Pod – 1/48
DCC3207 - Belgian F-16A Recce Modular Reconnaissance Pod – 1/32
