I am actually tempted to do a super detailed real world one of these...maybe even do as an open cutaway similar to this one in Pensacola:

1/32 Supermarine Walrus coming along as well:

Got photos of a real one taking off at Wanaka, seemed to be moving at about walking pace.

1/48 Il-28 Beagle now available for purchase - I have ordered mine!!! ;)
-
All of these projects look so amazing! I'm not a jet guy, but that Beagle is tempting. 8)

Beagle arrived today. Looks great at first inspection. Very nice detailing. :)
Great service from HPH as well. Arrived in less than two weeks since ordering. :)

Wow - that Letov's a bit obscure! Mind you, I bet it will make a very pleasing display model in 1/32nd, with the open cockpits and the wood-grain prop.

Another big one from HpH:

My Bro' has got one of those, he was showing it to me when we were down at his place a few months ago. The detail is incredible ----

Well, guess the car sits out in the elements now. The garage is the only display case big enough for this.
Oh, and I'd have to make it a strategic bomber.
-
The rhetorical question: How do you get the kit into the house or your possible future home, the garage, without the SWMBO finding out?
-
She'll find it sooner or later, unless you never build it. And what would be the point of that?
The "beep-beep" of the truck backing up to deliver it would be a sure give away anyhow!
-
It will be a tad big. Should be about 1.28m long with a wingspan of around 64cm.

Did that ever happen ?

What happen?

Did that ever happen ?
What happen?
That 1/48 Concorde in the pic above --- I haven't seen any news about it
Mind, it doesn't really compare against this 1/36 scale one
-
Yes it did happen - you can purchase here (http://www.hphmodels.cz/index.php/en/shop-2/produkty-hph-models/modely-v-meritku-1-48/concorde-101-102-in-scale-1-48-detail).
-
I've seen a photo of the fuselage and wing leaning on a wall next to a door....that Concorde really is insane!!! It's just HUGE!
-
Putting their in development 1/48 XB-70 in context...photos against both their 1/48 Il-28 and 1/48 T-50:

Not this one perhaps --- this is 1/72 scale though

And also waiting are my divorce papers if this kit shows up at the door.
Nice POV box art.

HPH XB-70 bash-build as colossal 1/72 bomber. Lots of room for laser gun turrets.

HPH XB-70 bash-build as colossal 1/72 bomber. Lots of room for laser gun turrets.
Yikes!! A 1/48 XB-70 scaled into 1/72 would represent a real aircraft 86.4m long with a wingspan of 48m!!
-
That box art is freaking awesome! I love it! ;D
I love that photo of them in their boxes...no, I shouldn't...

Carl --- You are good, sounds like well thought out assessment of post purchase events !

You guys have no sense of imagination! Why no t buy one and the lovingly present it to SWMBO as a "Joint Project" so that you can spend more quality time together...

I bought us his 'n' hers new-tool Airfix 1/72 Tiger Moths - she likes Tiger Moths - for us to build together about a year ago and they're both still sitting in the stash, so I don't see her agreeing to a Valkyrie!

One for Bill: 1/48 Convair B-36 to be released:

If my calculations are correct, the wing span will be 57 1/2 in. The fuselage will be 40 1/2 in.

If my calculations are correct, the wing span will be 57 1/2 in. The fuselage will be 40 1/2 in.
It still fits though most doors but what size vehicle will be needed to haul that thing to the model shows in one piece and not partially disassembled?

Either a 59 Edsel wagon or a 65 Rambler American wagon.
-
Oh my !
Ya know, is ideal for Greg.
Sure to be a dreadful price tag.
59 Edsel wagon can certainly handle it. Have to check on Rambler.
Like to have box art print.

How about a Brabazon? Or the An-225?

How about a HK-1 "Spruce Goose"?

Boeing 314 Clipper would be nice to see in 1:48th scale,

Boeing 314 Clipper would be nice to see in 1:48th scale,
That would be nice - would go nicely alongside the pair of 1/48 Sunderlands I have...
-
Another subject that I have yet to see in 1:48th scale is the Curtiss C-46 Commando. Maybe HPH will consider doing that as a future release?
Reeve Aleutian Airways livery would be a nice option for the decals :)

Others in the works from HpH: (all are 1/32 kits): Grumman F7F Tigercat, Douglas A20 Havoc, DC-3 Dakota, Savoia-Marchetti SM.79, Messerschmitt Me323 Gigant, Handley Page H.P. O/400 and Zlin/LET Z-37 Čmelák. There is also talk of a 1/32 SR-71 or B-58.
BTW, here are pics of the F7F and Me321 in work:

There is a reason I live on 5 Acres...
Hmm! me too
-
There is a reason I live on 5 Acres...
How many acres are covered in Gympie-Gympie, poisonous spiders, snakes and toads and how many drop bears in the trees?
-
I'm not giving away key details of my stash defences...
-
Nah we will just wait until the next lot of floods neutralise most of them before we act.

Ok Bill, take a deep breath and sit down lest the excitement will be too much for you:

:o :-* Time to break out a bottle of green tea :)
How about that? One of those never thought ya'd see it things. And love that box art !
Super extra good news for Greg's 1/48 stash.
Requires deep analysis and contemplation to build as 1/72 :icon_alabanza:
-
You realise this will bring on the Peak Oil crisis all that much sooner? :o
-
I'm utterly lost for words!
-
That's insane! :o
-
Pretty much have to have one just to marvel at it. Need to do a price check first.
Built as 1/72: 243ft fuselage 345ft wing 70ft 1.5in height
Then to find however many 1/72 engines to fly it.
Runway, taxiway, parking apron, and hanger size would be civil engineering challenges !
How many hours would it take to fill the tanks ?

They had that at Telford and surprisingly it wasn't as big as I thought it would be.

Having seen a 1/48 B-52, I have to agree. The B-52 is slightly smaller than a B-36, these two are 1/72 scale and on same size base boards

Anyone else think that this pic looks like a stretched A-7?

Of course the truly adventurous (with room) would go for a flying diorama of this:

Yup. Da temporary nose is very A-7-ish.
-
Temporary nose or just cut away to allow for the glass for the bombardier's position?

WOW WEE :o

WOW WEE :o
Did the math for you, Bill: 345 foot wingspan in 1/72! Almost as long as a Saturn V.
-
WOW WEE :o
Deep breaths Bill...take deep breaths and try to relax. ;) ;D
-
Wow, pretty cool. I'd like to get one to make a C-99 civil variant (Pan Am maybe) just to see people's heads explode.
But yeah, it's a bit expensive and I've nowhere to stash it.

My wife would have no trouble murdering me if I bought one of those ... & that'd be before she found out how much it cost! ;)
-
I showed my wife the photo and she said once I had moved all my stuff to the shed (which we are finally getting back now my stepdaughter moves out) and start building kits, I can buy one.
-
Another photo. And a 1/48 scale Robert "Dutch" Holland (Jimmy Stewart) is not included.

I'll take 3x 22,000 Bombs for $500 Alex.
-
That's the first time I've seen a load-out chart like that, now I know how it goes I'll be doing one of my 1/72 B-36's with these (or a copy of them). Pic shows a Tallboy, Grand Slam and a T12 (been working on the T12 for a while from drawings and dimensions I got from someone)
Mind you in the bottom pic the T12 would go in a B-29 too --- just

I like the idea of a aerial refueller version (KB-36) - maybe with booms on each wingtip as well as tail.
-
I like the idea of a aerial refueller version (KB-36) - maybe with booms on each wingtip as well as tail.
Could also be a different way of accomplishing the FICON mission without messing with that trapeze; long time in the saddle for the fighter pilots, though.

Picture airborne diorama where models are on posts or hung by wires. KB-36 refueling one - three B-10, B-17, B-24. Fine display at model show.
-
Perhaps a "passing the torch" diorama with a KB-36 refueling a XB-52?

B-36 and B-52 are large enough to be used as coffee tables :)
-
How long before they add a Tupolev Tu-95 or Myasishchev M-4 or better yet a Handley Page Victor to the 1/48 range? ;)
-
How about pinging the owners with some of your suggestions and ask them to post a buyer's survey?
-
Supposedly? The proof is right there!
-
Looks like they are going for a B-52H; appropriate since that's the only version still operational. I wonder how long it will be after release before someone makes conversion kits for earlier model B-52s?
-
Supposedly? The proof is right there!
Until you see it officially announced and better yet in actual kit form it is all 'supposed'. This could go no further than a one off master...

DC-3 box art is fabulous.
-
I predict this one will be very popular in the 1/32 crowd.
-
Wonder how soon before someone offers a conversion kit for the Basler conversion?
-
Is everyone sitting down? Please for before you read this post.
The price for the DC-3 is ....
A price has been quoted for the HPH Models 1/32 Douglas C-47 if purchased from Aviationmegastore, in the Netherlands. 454.50 Euro or approximately $557.00 US Dollars.
You may now resume breathing.
-
No surprise on the price, expensive mastering, expensive hand-laid GRP main components,
everything else is resin, again $$.
-
C-47s are inbound ...

I think Gingie is referring to our C$1 = USC .25 ;D
-
No, I did actually see an ad with a price of around $2700 US. Seemed steep even for such a huge hunk of resin.

If that's the level of detail OoB (& you're really into B-52s) that's not an unreasonable price for what must be, in marketing terms, a very short-run kit. 8)
-
I want the 1/48 ALCMs in those photos.
-
Sweet,,, though to darn pricey as basis to kit-bash into 1/72 mega-bomber.
-
It's OK, but a D model would be a license to print money*. ;)
* To quote the usual modelling forum spoo whenever the kit isn't what the poster would prefer. ;D

Does it come with its own display warehouse? ???
And why not in 1/35, so you can put a decent range of troops, vehicles & equipment with it? ::)
-
1/32 ??? ???
What an odd scale, you can't use it with the 1/35 stuff ---

Yeah, but with a 1/48 scale Do X, you've gotta compare purchase costs with those of a typical garden shed. Oh, no, wait ... the garden shed is still cheaper :icon_crap:

But you'll need one with glass sides to store it in, as a specialised display case. ;) ;D

Interesting that the box artist chose to plagiarize Ron Volstad's 20mm gun box art.
