Title: P-38W Impossible Lightning
Post by: Tophe on March 19, 2018, 05:30:01 PM
I am here starting another model, maybe the last of 2018 (before Christmas in December). This will be a 1/72 P-38, strongly modified. The kit content is surprising, like almost finished before building, and I will have to truncate all in deep butchery. It is hard for me to take pictures and all (checking the kit name and so on), as I just come from hospital, having been operated and I feel bad, sorry, with bad news like a trauma. If my death is soon maybe I will build a last model after this one, we will see.
The project here  may be an asymmetric Lightning, push-pull on the port side, with 2 booms as parts of sprues on the starboard side. To be confirmed.
  ???

I had no idea you were having surgery, mon ami and I wish you the fastest of recoveries!

I really like this one. It's like they took that Blohm and Voss asymmetric aircraft to the next level.

Will watch with interest,

Here is the kit, Hobby-Boss, that I will use:

And the start is normal, before truncations...

That's some fine kit surgery, mon ami and those cuts looks very well placed indeed.

Thank you for the play-by-play!

Thanks!
Well, I was a little sad to have destroyed the twin-boom layout, but it soon comes back:

That's good progress, mon ami!

A bit of assembly and you'll be ready for paint.

I think this one's going to be especially delightful.

Sanding restores smoothness but shows holes also, so: PSR again...

That's coming together quite well, Tophe!

I especially like your work on the engine.

You have incredible PSR skills, mon ami!

Sorry to hear you were in the Hospital - hope you are on your way to a full recovery.

Build looks interesting - looking forward to your progress.

Thanks!

Well, the tail part was finished, all glued (fins, booms, tailplane), then when I took it in my fingers all broke in 5 parts... :(
And I am building it all again, with reinforcement to hold that in place.

I'm glad to see you persevering Tophe.

It looks like you're getting very close to getting this one done.

I think I will finish today (photographs tomorrow after drying) but maybe you will never see this, as I may leave BTS forever, disgusted by the propaganda for war towards Korea, deleting any other point of view.

Don't leave Toph, in the short time I have been with this forum you have given me numerous ideas for kit bashes and revivals from death row, besides I like the way your mind works.

Looking foward to seeing this project  finished.

Get well soon.
