JP Viera,

I really love the following
  • Dassault Eclipse: It's kind of like Mirage F.1 meets a single engined YF-17.  It's a beautiful design and aerodynamically it's only flaw might be the aft fuselage may be a touch too narrow (that's why the F-20 had chine-shelves, it was to compensating two engines for one)
  • Hawker Siddely Osprey: It's kind of to the Dassault Eclipse what the F-18E is to the F-18A.  An improvement of an already beautiful design
  • Fairchild-Republic AV-10 Thunder: Damn practical to have a vertical takeoff ground-attack/CAS plane.  If only you had a a top view
  • Northrop F-89 Super-Scorpion: I remember commenting on this design awhile back.  I really liked it had an F-101 Voodoo quality about it as well as the F-89.  While I don't know how well research was on LERX in those days, but had a design like this been cooked up the F-101 would have probably made an effective escort fighter.  After all, it would have probably been more maneuverable at altitude, and the tail look like it would have been less prone to deep-stall problems as well.
  • Bell OV-25 Grasshopper: I really like the design, it looks functional and also has nice simple, clean lines.  Very few people realize the pitfalls that exist in helicopters due to the fact that the blades are effectively in constant windshear (advancing/retreating blades).  From the side-view I did not realize it to be twin-boomed, but regardless it looks good either way and I'm not the slightest bit surprised that Tophe loves it.
  • Avro York (Amphibious): It has really nice clean lines.  Now imagine that as an aerial refueller...
  • Bell OV-65: I really love the clay-renders of it.  Personally, I like the earlier design more, but admittedly this design is probably more functional size wise.
Interesting notes
  • Regarding the Lockheed F-109 Starkiller: There was a high-altitude variant of the F-104 called the NF-104: It was used to train astronauts and had a modified inlet spike to allow for higher optimized mach numbers to facilitate superior zoom climb, rocket-motor in the tail, and a somewhat bigger wing; while the NF-104 was unarmed, Lockheed did some studies into the idea of carrying a Genie under the F-104 in a modified semi-submerged structure attached to the lower-fuselage with a trapeze to allow it's extension and launch.  I'm not sure if an ASAT could be produced of that size, but it is a step towards your idea (while I was typing this I noticed that M.A.D. posted something to the same effect, but I figure I'll post it anyway)
  • Regarding the Handley Page Harrow CK Mk. VIII: Aerial refueling was something conceived well before WW2, and the Looped-Hose and Grapnel Line was a semi-successful system -- it required specialized multi-man crews; earlier ideas did incorporate a simple hose and I'm surprised that using a probe and drogue wasn't made workable (especially when you consider that that the research carried out by Cobham FRL wasn't classified far as I know) by somebody as it would have allowed refueling of fighters as well as bombers which would have been really useful.  Additionally: I'm surprised nobody ever thought of the idea of a flying-boat refueling plane, as WW2 involved huge swaths of the Pacific and refueling aircraft had limits in range too; a tanker like the PB2Y would make a great candidate as it was huge and could land on the water, refuel from a submarine or a submarine tender; then go back up and start passing gas with reckless abandon (you'd need retractible hoses).
  • Republic F-105-2000: This aircraft looks like it could make a seriously good carrier strike plane.  It could probably replace the A-7 and A-4 without trouble and have supersonic performance to boot.  I'm not sure how good a replacement for the older F-105 it would be however because of the fact that the F-111 might have had greater range and bomb-load.
  • Lockheed F-104-1000: There actually was at least one proposal for an F-104 with a larger (albeit not that large) and more tapered wing, and at least one proposal for an F-104 with LERX's.  The wings might be mounted too far back for a tailed design however

BTW: Since I'm often misunderstood, any commentary I've mentioned for your ideas are not meant to be taken negatively.  It's simply constructive ideas and advice.  I've been trying to be more overt in my expression of gratitude in requests for drawings and things of that nature because I've been told I come off as ungrateful; I don't want to appear negatively critical.  I have great respect for your work.

An MPA York? I do like that idea.  :)

My Dad was the effective crew chief of the RAF's last three Yorks in 1956 or thereabouts so I have a soft spot for that aeroplane.

Still think F-16s operators should had their own individual color schemes.
Here is one example: a Danish F-16

Absolutely! There's far too much grey paint in the world as it is.

Likewise the RAF Rivet Joints should have had blue lightning stripes along the fuselage with a white top.  :)
