Need a distraction from my Norsu Heavy APC build
Here's the distraction :
Bash of the following two kits:
1) 1/48 Academy Spitfire FR.XIVe
2) 1/48 Italeri AD-4 Skyraider
Here is the proposed layout as seen from above

Me thinks the FR.XIVe fuselage must be
1) Widened
2) Lengthened
How I am going to do 1) and 2) is beyond me :o
PS - Thanks for making BtS so great !
PPS - Apologies for the glorious mess on my hobby desk ;D

Curious to see where this goes. The "Skyfire" name is a winner though.

Agree on all points.

Predict lot of PSR is ahead.

Lengthening the fuselage is going to be a challenge. If 'twere me, I'd cut just behind the cockpit so that the aft section had the back fairing on the wing and move that back enough to line up with the Skyraider trailing edge and build up the fuselage from there with a lot of cut sprue stringers covered with either small sections of plastic card or formed larger pieces and then putty over that.
Just my $0.02.

Lengthening the fuselage is doable as elmayerle stated. Widening is another matter. The engine and cockpit area could be done with plastic strips added between the fuselage halves but then you would have to taper the rest of the way back to the tail. Either taper some plastic strips or use epoxy putty.
This will be interesting to watch.

Need to do this whiff faster than my Heavy APC ;D
Wingtips removed as per below photo :

Thinking of adding either 1) Wingtip fueltanks (ala B-26K) or 2) Missile launch rails.
Wing roots will be blended in with existing Spitfire FR Mk XIVe fuselage.
Also thinking of adding 7.62mm M134 Miniguns blended into wings.
Decided not going to lengthen the Spitfire fuselage .... My whiff has an early form of AFCS which will augment stabilization in flight.
Thanks for making BtS so great
PS - AFCS stands for Aicraft Flight Control System
