Nice model of the Chaffee and it appears to have a workable torsion bar suspension.

Over on the Modeling Madness (http://www.modelingmadness.com/) page, Scott Van Aken has shared a couple of images and a description of the Bronco Models 1/35th scale M114A1 155mm Howitzer (http://www.modelingmadness.com/scott/misc/military/previews/bronco/cb35102.htm) for your enlightenment.

Prior to Bronco offering this model, the only other model of this artillery piece available in a large scale was from Testor's/Italeri.  That model originated with a company called Peerless many years ago.  The Peerless model of the 155mm Howitzer has been the subject of much discussion on a number of forums as to what the exact scale is since it is not quite 1/35th scale.  I have also read in various discussions that the original Peerless kit had motorization features included which may explain some of the toy-like qualities of this model.  Now that Bronco has come up with a new model of the 155mm howitzer known by several designations and more recently as the 155mm Howtizer, Towed, M114 and M114A1 there should be many happy artillery modelers in this hobby.

***Edit to fix links.  Apparently Scott at MM likes to change the URL after the article moves from the main page.*** :(

AND.... Yet another KV-85! LINK (http://www.perthmilitarymodelling.com/newkitnews/bronco.html) -taken from PMMS (http://www.perthmilitarymodelling.com/index.html).

While I'm not totally surprised, since they also have an SU-152 on the way, I have to wonder why another kit of this somewhat obscure Soviet heavy tank. The old Eastern Express kit recently reappeared under the Ark label and Trumpeter has a KV-85 slated for release in October. Oh well, I guess this is the year for KV-series fans! ;D

EDIT- D'Oh! Thanks for catching that, Greg! I fixed the link to direct to the Bronco preview page at PMMS.

Probably easier to view using this link (http://www.perthmilitarymodelling.com/newkitnews/bronco.html)

There are certainly some interesting releases there - I am especially interested in the Versuchsflakwagen 8.8cm Flak auf Sonderfahrgestell (Pz.Sfl.IVc).

I must say, the Hungarian Jerry Cans and drums set is pretty obscure, to say the least!

The title describes this as a USMC craft which is  incorrect.  I thought it might be that Bronco is using theTrumpeter/Gallery Models mold for this model but that is not the case.  This model is very different from the Trumpeter/Gallery Models sprues and how it is put together.  There is also the additional bonus of several ground vehicles and a phote-etch metal fret containing several railing sections for the LCAC.

The M114A1 is added to my "wants" list.  I need that 155 to go with my M198 155mm and the M2A1 105mm in USMC service.

Thomas Hofmann has uploaded several in-box reviews to Modellversium.de. for the following 1:350th scale aircraft subjects:

Bronco models 1:350th scale SH-60B /SH-60J Sea Hawk Anti-Submarine Helicopter (kit number NB5003) (http://www.modellversium.de/kit/artikel.php?id=9127)

(http://www.modellversium.de/kit/bilder/1/2/7/9127-tumb.jpg) (http://www.modellversium.de/kit/artikel.php?id=9127)

Bronco Models 1:350th scale USMC AV8B "Harrier II" (kit number NB5030) (http://www.modellversium.de/kit/artikel.php?id=9125)

(http://www.modellversium.de/kit/bilder/1/2/5/9125-tumb.jpg) (http://www.modellversium.de/kit/artikel.php?id=9125)

Bronco models 1:350th scale USMC CH-46E "Sea Knight" (kit number NB5031) (http://www.modellversium.de/kit/artikel.php?id=9124)

(http://a.modellversium.de/kit/bilder/1/2/4/9124-tumb.jpg) (http://www.modellversium.de/kit/artikel.php?id=9124)

You should know the routine by now.  Click on the html or the image to view. :)

These kits are tiny but still have many features that some 1:144th scale aircraft would be hard pressed to provide.  For anyone wanting to take what if to a smaller format this may be your ticket to get there.  Along with the other 1:350th scale models that Bronco is making available this is certainly a different approach for offering nice details in such a small scale model.  All it would take is five or six of these tiny kits and you would have yourself an entire squadron of line birds plus a couple of maintenance spares :)

Another installment from Thomas Hofmann that was uploaded to Modellversium.de today.

Unfortunately only two per kit box in this offering but nonetheless quite nice looking and a great way to explore what if ideas without spending a ton of money on a larger and much more expensive kit.

Now that's real attractive.  I almost feel like I have to buy at least one box to build up for my desk at work (I work at Bell on the V-22).

Thomas Hofmann must be on a roll with all of these nice little reviews he is uploading to Modellversium.de.

Today he has shared some images of the Bronco Models 1:350th scale MH53E "Sea Dragon" (kit number NB5033) (http://www.modellversium.de/kit/artikel.php?id=9122)

Click on thumbnail or html to view.

(http://a.modellversium.de/kit/bilder/1/2/2/9122-tumb.jpg) (http://www.modellversium.de/kit/artikel.php?id=9122)

Apparently the folks at Bronco are not aware of the differences between the Sikorsky CH-53E and the MH-53E helicopters.  The CH-53E Sea Stallion is a U.S. Marine Corps asset while the MH-53E Sea Dragon is a U.S. Navy asset.  The differences are mainly in the wheel sponsons which are significatnly larger on the MH-53E Sea Dragon.  The image on the box for this model kit is an MH-53E Sea Dragon belonging to the U.S. Navy Helicopter Mine Countermeasures Squadron HM-14 "Vanguards" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HM-14) which is not a part of the U.S. Marine Corps.  A minor detail I know but Bronco has gone to so much trouble to provide us with a very nice little model of the MH-53E Sea Dragon they could at least get the description to up the contents in the box.  Other than that, this looks like a very nice little scale model of a very large helicopter.  Actually, two helicopters are provided in this kit.

Just as a point of interest,I owned one of the original Peerless 155mm gun. It would have been a bear to build. Unlike the later Italarie/Testors issue it had a metal barrel to which were added plastic parts at both ends. It also had real springs  that nobody who tried could compress and metal rods to make up the assembly both sides of the barrel. This was plastic in the Testors issue as was the barrel.  It was not motorized, however.  But the biggest laugh was the "radio" both had. It was so large a man could get inside !!!  It was really a field generator and a very nice one at that !!!  I had the chance to compare both editions and was glad to see those metal parts go !!!

Airborne Trailer !!!!!!!  :icon_sueno:
Because I needed one for a Captured 251 Halftrack build I found  a single picture of Guards Armoured Division with captured German Sd. Kfz 251 Type D half track (http://www.flickr.com/photos/orange-tim/3103214233/#)|orange-tim
I bought a set of two from Resicast last year.

Always the the way.
Want a list of stuff I have scratchbuilt/heavily modified only to then come out in injected plastic ?

Yep, I'm in the same boat! I have a list of subjects I want to build but after some previous fiascos with funky old resin kits and subsequent releases of better and cheaper injection kits, I'm reluctant to put out the money. And it's not just the ONE injection kit of the obscure/experimental/paper project subject that will come out but two or three!

That Nimrod turret looks modern enough that you could swap it onto something from the 1950s/1960s, and the gun is, of course universal. Walker Bulldog perhaps, as an alternative to the M-42 Duster? Comet or Cromwell as a means of using up obsolete hulls? You could even give it range-only radar like an M-163...

Comet hull would be a good choice for British Army or maybe a Centurion if the turret diameter is a bit large.

i just wish some manufacturer would make a model of the BMW tourer in 35th (same type as Hasegawa did in 48th !) a number were used as staff runabouts during the war with one even being fitted out for infra red driving trials :)

Bronco's Versuchsflakwagon 8.8cm Flak. 41 Grief is another il have to pick up for my late war building theme :)

Mights as well use the equivalent turret to the Crusader III AA:

Might be better off just applying that stuff with a byro in the appropriate colour.

Best not tell FinsRin about this or he will be looking at converting it into a multi-engine jumbo load lifter :)

***addendum: the box art suggests that the kit might include the figures and the equipment stacked near the Horsa, that would indeed be a nice addition to the kit if that is the case.  Though the parachute supply containers are not really necessary, some of the other items would certainly fit right in.

Jeff, the Horsa could carry supply containers under the wing centre-section, three each side.

Thanks Jon, that is nice to know.  I do not recall ever having seen an image of the Horsa sporting such things so it is nice to learn something new.  :)

The ability to carry the containers dates from the original idea of using Horsas to drop paratroops.  It was seen as a way of increasing the number dropped on a given mission, the glider being towed home and released over the home airfield where it could land and be reused.  I can't remember ever reading of that being done nor the containers being carried on operations.

Hanging for the Lloyd Carrier.

Currently building the Airborne Jeep with 6 Pounder AT gun.
The jeep is nice, but very fiddly with the usual parts for the sake of adding to the parts count.. is there really any reason to have six PE latch catches on the bonnet when they could have been moulded on ?

Some clever thinking at the same time, you get 3 options for the front suspension with fixed settings, turn right, turn left and directly forward, which does make it nice and easy to set the suspension.

I like the gun crew's regulation poses.  ;D

Probably due to only having training footage/pics to work from.

Wonder if there are any images of the para's artillery in action at Arnhem? Pretty sure they wouldn't have been in regulation poses.

Still, it's a common fault with artillery crew figures - & figures in general. Model companies should use their imagination a little more for their figures.

Post by: Rickshaw on July 20, 2014, 11:56:54 AM
Yes, there are plenty of photos of the Paras using 75mm guns at Arnhem.  And yes, they weren't in regulation poses, particularly when the enemy arty was landing.  They were dug in there, quite deep, which would have made direct fire impossible.  IIRC they dug in and around the Vicarage.  I have a book on the battery in the battle somewhere (IIRC I lent it to my thieving brother ;D ).

Yes, perty much scaled up from the Airfix 1:48th scale Quad ATV kit and that is why I like it so much more :)

I think I have at least four of the Airfix kits in the stash at the moment.  The larger Quad ATV allows me to dispose of several die-cast metal/plastic toy Quad ATV things that I had picked up as a last resort.

Now if someone would only offer up a decent snowmobile and sledge combination in addition to some decent x-country motorcycle subjects in 1:35th scale ... :\

Nice touch in that Bronco set: the guy at front right is holding an L129A1 sharpshooter rifle, which was a very recent, low-key purchase (2012) that many people don't even realise we've got.

Interesting when you note the scale.

I hear its a snap together kit aimed at the younger crowd. Still, I do wonder why 32nd and not 35th?

According to "The Modelling News" (LINK! (http://www.themodellingnews.com/2015/05/broncos-new-models-four-wheeled-tracked.html)), Bronco will release more German "Panzer Grey" stuff, as well as this neat set:

British Army ATV Quad Bike & Trailer w/Soldier
1/35th scale
#CB35207

Well, it only took them four years. "The Modelling News" now reports (LINK! (https://www.themodellingnews.com/2019/04/preview-britains-got-quad-bronco-models.html?m=1)) the set is due for release in May. Don't know how often I've looked through the Bronco pile in my LHS hoping to spot this very set. Looks like the wait is over. I hope.

Jeff, you still good for a case of these? Or did you get the Live Resin ATV?

Hi Moritz, - no, I am still waiting on Bronco to get off their A$$eS and produce their kit.  No way was I going to purchase that LiveResin ATV kit for the price they are asking.
Plus the Bronco offering comes with Gruntniks, a wagon/trailer and the ATV = Winning!

It looks like a scaled up Airfix kit

@Robert/Kitnut617 - close, I think the Bronco kit was originally announced around the same time that Airfix produced their little Quad ATV kit.  Have a couple of the Airfix Quad ATV kits and they are nice, perfect for stuffing in the back of a V-22 or any helicopter with an aft ramp that can accommodate something that size.

The Ram is LOOONG overdue as an injection molded kit. I’m glad to see it! Heck, there’s some great “whif in a box” potential like a gun tank in combat or post-war use by Swiden*, Notaslavia or Syldavia!

The LiveResin Quad is nice but it does not have all of the exta bits that the Bronco kit has to offer.  Plus that premium price for the resin was painful enough to keep me away.

Dong Feng-1 (DF-1), or Project 1059
China’s first ballistic missile system, a licensed copy of the Soviet R-2 (SS-2 ‘Sibling’) short-range ballistic missile, which itself was derived from the German V-2 but with doubled range. The missile was 17.7 m in length and 1.65 m in diameter, with four trapezoidal-shape stabilising fins attached to the bottom. The missile had a launch weight of 20.5 t, and a take-off thrust of 37 t. The maximum flight range was 590 km. The missile was transported on a truck-towed trailer, which also served as the launcher platform.

I have question on why the wooden doors. Was it to minimize the vehicle metal content so as to not interfere with the antenna or material shortages?

More resin stuff gets consigned to the box of doom, I knew buying the Resicast Airborne trailer kit a few years back was a bad move
Had gathered  some stuff up for a signals jeep as well.
Oh well.... Kaching !!!

At least Bronco are getting good mileage out of the Airborne jeep kit
