This reminds me of a predatory bird, sitting and watching for its prey at an elevated point of advantage.

I submit this photo, not so much as to do with General Bernard Schriever 'Father of Air Force space and missiles' depicted in the photo, but more the myride of models of ballistic missile designs shown, which were studied. Many of which I've never seen before, let alone know anything about.
How cool would it be to have this collection in the study!!😯

Not quite all, but quite a few. These were done by a mate of mine in the UK who is the brains behind Stargazer Models.

A lot of these are extensive scratchbuilds and/or accurarizing of stock kits, before some of the newer Real Space kits were around.

These are not mine, but a photo of his display shelf.

His gawdawful website.. I have been on him to give it a make over.

Almost looks like a painting. :icon_surprised:

Any aircraft/vehicle/vessel in that condition looks sad. :icon_crap:

Now here is an interesting shot. One of the latest two Challenger 650's (144619) acquired by the RCAF. Note how it has the RCAF @ ARC on the nose, while all the older RCAF Challengers do not. Next is the newest CC-295 Kingfisher in Canada, 501, then the final remaining 4 flying Buffalo aircraft that this new fleet will eventually replace and then a Cormorant to round off the flight line in Comox. (My photo)

Though, there's no rest for either squadron, with @OC617Sqn & VMFA-211, @MCASYumaAZ, bouncing straight onto Ex Crimson Warrior.

The culmination of numerous exercises that have taken place over the last few months working with our @NATO partners to enhance our interoperability.

Hangar 11 Collection

Hi Friends

Between November 1942 when the first Mk V Spitfire was shipped to Russia and June 1945 when the last Mk IX Spitfires were shipped to Murmansk via the North Atlantic convoys, a total of 1,328 Spitfires joined Russian squadrons as part of the so called “Lend Lease” scheme.

Of those 1,328 Spitfires, (all notated by individual serial number in such publications as “Spitfire International”), all have the comment “Fate unknown” apart from just one. That is PT879, which took to the skies today, 75 years after she was last flown by a young Russian pilot, crashing with just 28.5 hours total time on squadron.

This joyous day brings me to the final chapter that started back in year 2001 when I acquired the whole aircraft, complete with original engine and prop hub, inside a 20ft container on a farm in Essex. She had been recovered from Russia by Peter Monk himself in the mid 1990s and sold to Angie Soper who ultimately sold her to me that day.

So starts a new chapter in the life of this unique Mk IX Spitfire, which it was my dream to restore to the skies, I always said that was my legacy, my promise and today it came to pass. I am emotionally drained, excuse my brevity but it’s been a hell of a day. PT879 will now complete her test schedule and then will be granted her Permit to Fly. At which point, yours truly gets to fly her!

I feel deeply indebted and thankful to a special few of the many people involved in this wonderful project. Peter Monk of course, who was ultimately responsible for saving PT879 & the whole brilliant and talented team at BHHH. Steve Atkin our historian who has ensured that she is presented today as she flew on her last mission in 1945, along with my whole team at Hangar 11. And of course my friends, my lovely and sweet wife Karen and super family who have supported me throughout.

Thanks so much to all of you who have posted fabulous messages on line, keep them coming they give the whole team so much pleasure, sorry that I have not had a chance to reply to them all but I will try.

A few shots for your interest, taken by my old mate Darren Harbar are attached

Fly safe, keep well
Peter

Early test launch or Skylab launch?  It's clearly not an Apollo launch.

This is the Saturn I booster. There were 10 launches using this style of booster:  SA-1 to SA-10.

Appears to be mission SA-1. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saturn_I_SA-1
Apollo Saturn missions started with: AS-2xx

I also just happen to have this book:
