1/1200 Italian Destroyer Spalato ( Ex Yugoslavian Split)

Here is my WIP model of Italian Destroyer Spalato, the conjectural build of the captured unfinished Yugoslavian Destroyer Split. Scale 1/1200.

The model is based upon a very recently revealed top plan of the original design. This shows a ship much different that the post war rebuild and some of the other conjectures on how she would have originally looked. To me most of the latter looked like a spin on her post-war appearance.

I modeled the top level of the bridge after the "Beograd." the new drawing shows it having a rounded front and angled wide wings rather than the Fletcheresque one post 1945.

She needs her armament and a few more AA and details. The Italians planned to mount up to ten 37mm Bredas and five 5.3" guns. She could have given the French Fantasque class a run for their money.

The new information can be found here:http://www.forum-marinearchiv.de/smf/index.php/topic,26704.0.html
