I'm back :)
After a few weeks of "couch potatoing", is "back to the bench" time.
This time with a German WW2 ficcional theme resulting from the integration of two parts that actually existed:
the Kugelblitz Flakpanzer tower with a Kommandowagen draisine.
The scale is 1/35 and both kits are from Dragon.

The unused parts:
And a very simple base to support it:
The construction has been really simple and straightforward:

The only "issue" was making all those tiny little holes on the AA barrels:
And to add a more human dimension to the vignette, one figure, also from Dragon, but with a Hornet's head.

And this is how the whole thing is looking right now:

I hope you like it!
-
First I seen/known of either model !
Is a cool kitbash 8)
Thatz super fine work on AA barrels :)
-
Nice one - looks good. :)
SOOOOOO needs anti-grav pods and a flying stand though.... ;)
-
I am half expecting a BDF (Bovine Defence Force) theme
-
Wow, that really looks 'real'. Totally plausible WHIF...just the thing to counter those Typhoon and Thunderbolt rhubarb missions.
-
Very nice and I have to echo Gingie on its plausibility! What color(s) do you have in mind?
-
Wow!!! And here I was, just about to contact you to see if you were ok...you're obviously not...which is good! ;)
-
Thatz super fine work on AA barrels :)
Agreed! nice detail! Really a great idea, completely plausible
-
Got me contemplating 1/72 possibilities.
What is diameter of Kommandowagen turret ?
Thanks
-
HI
Thanks for the comments!
Sorry, but no "radically weird stuff" this time! ;)
The color scheme will be the traditional WW2 German dark yellow, with some olive green patches for camouflage.
Real "normal stuff", this time :)
The kommandowagen turret is smaller that the kugleblitz tower.
It is an octagon in shape and about 5.5cm (~2.2") in diameter In 1/35 scale.

It looks like you're having a lot of fun with this one, Antonio!
I know I'm going to enjoy following your progress!

Hi
Thanks for watching!
And now... it's primer time :)
A lovelly mixture of tamiya dark yellow with some deck tan for the vehicle:
And some variations of grey and red hull for the base and rails:
As for the figure, I am planning to use a colorful "Pea Dot" SS camo. Cute outfit, right?
-
Always like your in progress shots.
coming along nicely

A couple of quick suggestions, because I grew up in a railroad family. The rails used here in the U.S. turn a blackish metallic color. Also for the tops use silver Rub-and-Buff applied with mk1 ffinger followed by graffite or pencil led to darken. I've used this before and gotten great results. BTW, if I haven't mentioned it before, you have done a great job here and the paring of the two is outstanding. I just wish I had thought of it !!!!
-
Hi
Thanks for the comments and suggestions!
I have just finished the base, using some coarse balast and static grass used for railroad modelling (what else? :))
The painting was done with acrylics and oils, and the final track metal finish with rubbed-on graphite powder.

As for the figure, it is almost done, and, as usual, it was a great fun to paint the "pea dot camo". :)

Thanks for looking!

Looking damn fine!
-
The camo on that figure are a real testament to your incredible skill, Antonio!
Have you considered leaving the barrels off the guns? I kind of like the "U.S. civil war ironclad" look it gives the turret.
Looks great and I think you'll have another prize-winner when all is said & done.

Hi
Thanks for looking!
The painting is pretty much done:
This time I will keep the barrels on the guns. The turret odd shape has some potential to integrate a more radical and interesting design,
but I want to keep the "what-if" part of this particular project to be very subtle :)
Now it is time for some weathering!
-
Now gone from wow to super WOW !!
-
Oh my!!! Your painting choices really work well together man! Can't wait to see it all together 8)
-
That's in the running for one of the tastiest camo schemes yet, Antonio!
You have an artist's touch for sure!

This is one of those cam schemes that just looks "right" on a whif!
-
Thank you, guys!
And after a very "light" weathering, this one is also finished.

Very nice Antonio! Looks like it was supposed to be built like that with the kugelblitz turret.
-
That's a real stunner, Antonio! I especially like the contrast between the camo on the vehicle and that on the soldier.
Outstanding work!
Brian da Basher
-
Superb, those pesky Typhoons better watch out
-
Outstanding! One could easily imagine this on the outskirts of Berlin in 1945.
-
Out-bleeping-standing man!!!! Certainly looks the part and should fool a lot of folks 8)
I'm wondering now thought how it would look if camoed like the soldier??? ;)
-
Wow! That is truly impressive :)
-
superb.. both Draisine and figure.
And quick :o :o
Terrific work.
-
Great execution and it looks good enough to be real. Oh, really nice figure painting too ! :icon_beer:
-
Sa-wee-t! 8)

Missed this one. All I have to say is brilliant indeed!
