Civilian V-22 Osprey profiles

(1/3) > >>

ChernayaAkula:
All this kicked off when I read of two of finsrin's recent stash additions, an USMC VIP MV-22 Osprey and a DC-4. I thought about swapping the decals between the kits. The idea of an Iceland Airways (one of the decal options in the DC-4 kit) seemed kinda cool. Looked for a suitable Osprey blank and got going. The only civilian modification was the addition of a couple more (and bigger) windows. The Jarheads probably won't mind, but paying passengers would probably like a better view.  ;)
All this is done in MS Paint. A bit crude, but works as a doodle/proof-of-concept.

Then Greg suggested British Airways and CHC Helicopters.

More to come. Probably. Mojo is a bit iffy these days, but these three were good fun.

How about QANTAS or (even though neither exist any more) TAA or Ansett-ANA for us Aussies? ;)

Beautiful!!  How about schemes for New York Airways, either operating on their own or as an affiliate of Pan Am (see the 1/100 Tamiya KV-107-II box - suitable scans can be supplied if needed, though I believe they can also be found online - or google images for New York Airways Helicopters and see other schemes on other helicopters, the Piasecki one, see below, would look especially sharp on a V-22) or, and this would need a touch of research, a Chicago Helicopter Airways (they are known to have flown S-55's, S-58's, and S-61L's) scheme.

Piasecki scheme:

I like the changes in the windows, something that would be needed for a civil transport.  Just as a thought for those considering modeling one of these in plastic, convert the rear ramp to a set of steps for the passengers, that would likely work better than using the crew entry just aft of the cockpit.

Further note:

Just cries out for a similar Sabena scheme for a passenger V-22.

Just Throw the ramp down for em.  ;D

Very cool profiles. really interesting idea for europe. good range, won't mind small or out of the way areas. might be some solid routes that are too long for helicopter, but relatively overkill for a fixed wing.
