The FV521AS Warrior 90mm Recce/Fire Support Vehicle is an Australian development of the British FV500 Warrior MICV family of vehicles utilising the 90mm Cockerill-gunned Cadillac-Gage turret of the LAV-150 series of vehicles.
Photo's would have been forthcoming tonight but, for some inexplicable reason, my camera battery was dead when I went to take the pic's. ???
Maybe, if I get time between "Honey-do's" & work, tomorrow.
-
Looking forward to the photos.

Really looking forward to this one as a Commonwealth companion to my Bradley FSV. :)

Looking good Guy, the turret and gun do not look out of place on the Warrior hull. A winner for sure!
-
I'll second that! Even at this early stage it's looking spot on. :)
-
Excellent! The turret looks great with the extra armor/thickening.
-
Thanks, gent's! :)
Turret needs some rivets, a partial mantlet cover, the camera periscope (above the gun) to be completed & the final kit parts around the hatches, & that will be done.
The hull is going to be stock-standard Warrior from here.
Someone on WIM suggested that the turret looked like an elephant's head, I tend to agree &, for a moment, I considered giving the vehicle a pachyderm related name but have since decided otherwise.
Soldiers, on the other hand, might not be so generous. ;)
-
Inspirational! Keep the updates coming!
-
Looking good. Might try something similar with a 60mm HVMS as per M113 fit.

I'm really impressed with what you've done on the turret!
It looks every bit the business!

Guy, if they think it looks like an elephant then the ideal name could be ***"Old Tusker" or "Tusker" :).
*** popular regional beer.
-
'Tusker' is certainly better than 'Dumbo' which first sprung to mind... ;D
...but perhaps 'Mammoth' might be an equally good name...
-
Very believable looking. The turret shape looks like it was made to go on the Warrior hull. Looking forward to seeing this one completed.
Definitely would look good next to Claymore's Bradley FSV!
-
Bootifool..
Love your work so far

"Mastodon" could also be an option...though the possible "in-field modifications" to that name may be undesirable.
-
Oh yeah; is RW convincing. :)
You have good eye and skill for the mods.

Back at the bench (dining table) for the 1st time since a few days before Christmas with this build.
Mostly smaller bits to add on before the primer coat goes on, then I'll have to think about a camo scheme.
-
Looking forward to this! :D
-
How about some anti tank missiles? Just my $0.02 worth.
-
Not much progress, I'm having trouble getting time to set up my paint table & airbrush in the garage (People keep insisting on parking their cars in it!) but I've done this with the ol' rattle can tamiya grey primer;
Really, really hope to get more done soon! :icon_alabanza:

Not much progress, I'm having trouble getting time to set up my paint table & airbrush in the garage (People keep insisting on parking their cars in it!) ...
According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics' Motor Vehicle Census, there were 18.4 million registered motor vehicles on your continent as of 31 Jan 2016. AFAIK, yours is only 1/35 FV521AS Warrior 90mm Recce/Fire Support Vehicle on the workbench at present.
Sorry folks, you're going to have to park yer 'bourgemobiles' on the verge! Whiffers demand it >:(
-
Got some leave coming up in a couple of weeks, worst case, & I'll have the time & space for a few days before SWMBO starts her leave. :)

Well that is a treat.
coming along nicely
-
Thanks, BT! :)
Unfortunately it'll be at least a week before I get back to this, as I've got 7 day-shifts starting tomorrow. :icon_crap:
But then I've got 3 weeks leave! ;D
-
:)
-
Another awesome creation!
-
That is coming together very nicely sir. I have to say that the Warrior looks very good in those colors. Looking forward to seeing the finished project!
-
It's not dead, yet! :D

One of my old Troop Leaders did a trip to the UK in the late 90s and got to play with Warrior, he came back with glowing reports say they actually comfortably exceeded their tabulated performance data and were so far in advance of out clapped out M-113s that there was no point upgrading them we should just replace them. Of course this being Australia the government launched an upgrade programme that took well over a decade and delivered an inferior vehicle for more than a superior new build (even locally) replacement would have cost.
-
Looking good ... excellent camo :)
-
So you going to do a Chally to go with it?
-
Thanks guys! :icon_alabanza:
Already have a Chally I (in a different scheme) but I'm going to be stripping her down & using her as my "Paint B!t<#".
The salvaged parts will be used as add-ons for the Chally II in the stash, when I get around to it.
Not sure who's going to have the Chally II, as I've already ear-marked my Merkava IV for the RAM ... Maybe RAAC, with a closer-to-actual camo scheme?

Finally! Finished! :icon_beer:

Wow that's great! I really like the netting and how that neat little red Coleman cooler highlights it all!
Great work!

My original Troop Leader from back in the day got the chance to play with Warriors back in the mid to late 90s in a semi official capacity. He thought they were great and reported back that they would be much better value than upgrading the M-113 as the base vehicle was already superior to the proposed possible specs of the upgraded M-113. Well history is history, except for here. ;D
-
Thank you, gentlemen! :icon_alabanza: :)
-
Another impressive creation. Bravo, good sir!
-
Check all your f the above and then some!
What did you use for camo net?
-
Awesome creation good Sir and entirely believable. Bravo! :)
-
Thank you, gentlemen! :icon_alabanza: :icon_alabanza:
kerick: The camo net is some lace mesh I bought about 8 years ago. I've used it for camo netting & as fencing mesh. I think it's nylon or similar as it doesn't soften when wet but does take acrylic paint nicely.
