DONE-Air Lines(FROG)/Marivox Miles "Sea Master" float scout plane.

The surplus Marivox Saab B.17b floats are glued up,  the pylons are carved to match the airfoil, and the wheel-well openings have been closed up. It is mocked up with tape. I think all will work nicely.

Interesting. May I suggest smaller, slimmer pylons for the floats? They look thicker than the wings. Otherwise, go for it!
Painting ideas?

Oh, and enlarge the tail feathers or add a fin under the tail.

Hi, Kerick. Your suggestions are duly noted. The reason that I am using these pylon floats is that I don't have to fool around with a bunch of struts. The Miles Master's inverted gull wing makes sense for propeller and motor clearance from the water. I plan on extra fin area and possibly a bigger motor. The larger pylons will probably house forward firing armament. I am working on paint, markings, and backstory. Disney's "Tailspin" cartoon comes to mind.

Perhaps gun blisters on the outboard side of the pylons or guns within the pylons?  Or both, for overkill?

I could also see internal guns and an external, to the outboard side, stores pylon like that of the Lysander.

Construction is complete. Paint markings, and backstory is still up in the air. Interior is classic FROG OOB. I added cannons in the pylons and a ventral fin. I filled the gaps. The cowl and motor are from a Hasegawa A6M3 Hamp Zero

I wondered about those floats working, but as the last two photos attest, you've got an incredible eye for getting it just right!

Sure looks great and I especially like the added guns on the pylons!

Seems the folks at Miles made good use of the work done on the M.10 project back in 1935-36. 



Based on M.3B Falcon Six; 35' span, 25' length. Designed to Spec. 35/32 for a replacement for the DH Queen Bee
remote piloted target, Airspeed AS 30 was selected and produced as Queen Wasp. Miles only seaplane project.

Miles Sea Master Floatplane scout/fighter. of the Argentine Navy, 1945-1956. Argentina bought Miles Master Mk.IIIs from the UK and Saab floats rom Sweden. They locally modified them into  the Sea Master. They were re-engined with Pratt & Whitney R-4100 Yellowjacket motors. They were used for coastal patrol and anti-smuggling operations.


 
I like Glossy Sea Blue, so I went with it. Airfix's Walrus had an Argentine Navy machine with a Yellow top wing. Aluminum floats don't take paint too well. Bob's your uncle.



I thought it would be South American/banana republic stuff. I had a choice of Peru, Argentina, Columbia, Equador, and Venezuela in the decals available from my scrap-box. I chose Argentina, as I found the "Armada" markings leftover from a Super Etendard.



I painted the rudder strips and found the "Happy Face" Sun on a leftover Fujimi A-4P sheet. I brush-painted it with Humbrol Glossy Sea Blue, Citadel Yriel Yellow, and Testors Aluminum.



The white anchors and plane number same from the Super Etendard sheet and the black anchors came from the Airfix Walrus.



I am very happy with the results. This is one of my best "Whiffers" to date.
