Doesn't look quite as good as Carlos', to me. ;)
The MiG-21 wing looks a bit on the small side. More like F-104 proportions.

A few days ago, a Finnish MiG-23 with MiG-21 wing was posted on Facebok:

Looks closer to a Ye-230 operational version without the lift engines.  I'm looking to do something similar, but with the addition of canards.

Canards are a good idea on this one, I think.

More Flogger re-winging:

Straight 1/1 Mirage F.1 wing transplant:

Looks slightly odd. I think it could be improved by moving the main wings farther aft.

Mirage F.1 wing with some extension bits near the fuselage for a more fitting look. Could also facilitate adding another wing pylon, allowing carriage of an additional AAM per wing:

For a 1/72 version, I've thought about nicking the wings of a Trumpeter JH-7 Flying Leopard and cut them to an appropriate span. Since you'd have to graft them onto the Flogger fuselage anyway, I suppose it would be easier than extending the F.1's wings.

MiG-23PD/Mirage2K wings
Nice!!  Be a humorous touch to use a Mirage IIIV wing, instead.

I suppose a two-engine MiG-27 arrangement (alas smaller and less powerful engines) would make it somewhat VG-winged Jaguarski like 😯 In essence giving it a better operational redundancy - during both peace and in combat  ysi_maniac

MiG-23 upgrade with MiG-29 avionics and AL-31 engine from Su-27.  I could see it for home use in upgrading the MiG-23MLD and for upgrading export MiG-23's for approved customers.

Well there was the "MiG-23-98" upgrade packages which included a partial "glass cockpit", improved Sapfir radar or new Moskit radar, a comprehensive modern countermeasures suite, and other avionics updates. They would be able to support R-77 (NATO "AA-12 Adder") and the R-27R1 (NATO "AA-10 Alamo") heatseeking dogfighting AAM, associated with the Mikoyan MiG-29 Fulcrum. Surface attack capability would also be enhanced with new targeting systems and weapons.  It never went anywhere though.

I do like your idea though.  Maybe a MiG-23-21st century.  Give it the Phazotron Zhuk-A/AE AESA radar from the MiG-35 though along with the OLS-UEM (13SM-1) electro-optical targeting station from the same.  Also fully upgrade the cockpit to full glass and with HMD.  A Saturn AL-31, especially with thrust vectoring, would be cool though it might be a tad large (diameter wise) for the fuselage.  Might need to give the girl a fatter arse...  (refrained from any dirtier comments ;)).  Also give it R-73 and R-77 missiles.  Might as well also upgrade the cannon to the 30mm GSh-30-1 as well.

I've long wondered how to replicate it in plastic.

A MiG-29 canopy heavily modified perhaps?

or perhaps a F-84F one:

Would probably need to play with MiG-23 fuselage and various donors to check fit and where to cut etc.

I wonder if the aft clear section over the cockpit of the Mig-21/21f would work for the back section of this canopy?
