IDF Border Patrol Fennek
« on: April 13, 2015, 06:19:24 AM »
It will be a week or two before I start this but at least the parts are now in the post. Trumpeter Fennek with Live Resin RWS done in IDF sand grey.

I was also thinking of doing a small diorama with a section of fence and the two Black Dog female IDF soldiers

But I've not ordered these yet as I suck at figures and have only attempted 1 dio before which never got to see the light of day.

So any suggestions on what else it might need?

I don't think their uniforms fit that tight but otherwise it looks cool!

Generally, military uniforms tend to come only in two sizes - too big or too small BUT I have seen some women who have the odd body shape that fills them out quite nicely...

Admittedly, they looked quite strange in civvie clothing, which was designed to fit them...  ;)

The design looks great, and the Live Resin kits are top notch and logically designed. The Black Dog figures tend to look a little off - far too stretched - like this Special Forces guy:

I agree with Frank on the BlackDog figures but one figure can pass if put among other better-proportioned ones.
The girl on the left has good Israeli facial features, both have good size but busts are too large for their body shape -- a common problem of all figures sculpted by modeller dork-guys :(

With mods, that Special Forces guy could be used in a 1980s European scene - see below ;D  Dutch & Danish troops were allowed very slack rules in the 1970s/80s, not needing to salute officers either.

Then again, in the field, saluting an officer is often a "sniper check".  Of course, that is one way to dispose of cordially disliked officers.

Thanks for all the comments Gents. I guess I'll have to add the figures now as that's what has drawn the most comments :)
And as it's a complete what-if anyway it doesn't really matter if certain parts of the anatomy seem out of proportion.
Now off to see if i can track them down....

[Me, saluting officer in the field], "Snipers in the area, sir!"  "Sergeant, you are my personal shield from this moment!"  ;)

Australian soldiers tend not to salute in the field, nor wear badges of rank or other insignia (or didn't until 2001).    ;)

Doing my research and found the uniform, when worn, can be tight at times... :)

A quick look into the 2 boxes

First up the Live Resin RWS. A lot of parts but all immaculatly cast and flash free. Here are the

bulk of the parts

A lot of the smaller parts have fallen of the pour blocks, as the attachments are very fine which

makes it easy to clean up the parts. They all seem intact though, but I left them in the bag for

now....some are very small and I didn't want to risk losing any.

As you can see the detail on the parts is fantastic:

And now the Trumpeter Fennek itself. It's only a small vehicle. I think only 6 or 7 inches long

when completed, but there are a lot of parts. 13 sprues, 1 large PE fret, a small sprue of clear

parts and the upper and lower hull halves, tyres and decals. From initial looks the casting looks

perfect. No flash on any of the bits.

Just need to finish off my Stryker M1132 and I can start cutting & gluing this little fella.

The Live Resin parts are always top quality. His figures are also outstanding (he sells/makes the Tank line). You can get Live Resin and Tank kits at a better price straight from Yaroslav:

http://models-hobby.com/

Pretty easy to order from him and if the kits are in stock, it takes 2 weeks or so to get them from Russia.

Fennek looks nice, too many parts, but nice.

Sometimes I yearn for the old Dragon BRDM and its low (and yes simplified) parts count and quick buildability.

All in all, really looking forward to this build

Thanks BB, I know what you mean, but having done the plow on my AFV Club M1132 Engineer vehicle with Surface Mine Plow, I'm not put off by the parts count in the Fennek.

There were two sprues of parts just for the plow blades, never mind the plow body:

The parts for a single blade:

And how it's all looking at the moment:

Can you imagine if it had been a Bronco kit? Probably twice as many parts.
