Klfw-225 V141 Double Rammer
« on: December 28, 2014, 01:09:47 PM »
For my birthday yesterday, my older brother offered me 2 Unicraft resin kits, 1/72: Junkers-Klagenfurt Klf 225 V1 (Fool's day joke in the magazine Le Fana de l'Aviation a long time ago) and the Focke-Wulf Rammer. With them together, I intend to build the tandem-wing double-fuselage asymmetrical Klfw-225 V141 Double Rammer. In January...

Thanks for your words, dear friends... Have a happy new year, all of you.
Here is the Klfw project, a little more precise (but the photograph is blurred, damned camera...):

That is an understatement! You're one of the few modelers who attacks Unicraft kits with gusto and actually makes something good looking out of them.

You are right: this is not easy but there is double pleasure at the end, getting some result...

The first putty is on:

That's some nice clean-up work on the parts, Tophe!

Looks like you're a world-class PSR'er to boot!

Thanks for the update on your progress. Your work is always a delight!

Thanks!
Well, I have not given up at all, but maybe the rest will be done in February: I am currently working on the (more easy) F4U-4 Corsair model that I received also for my birthday (turned into F4U-14-1 Corsasym, parasol-wing & asymmetric & 2-seat, posted on the other site). ???

You're very wise to break a big job like that down into smaller parts, Tophe.

Glad to see you're keeping this one going!

Thanks Brian!

I have not gone further on this one yet, I am currently finishing the asymmetric F4U with high wing that is built at the same time (I will show the result of it, of course, making me free for the Double Rammer).

As the F4U-14.1 below is now finished, I am going to continue the Double Rammer model again tomorrow.

My son jacky photographed the current status of the model: I used sprues to make the sharp extremities of the short fuselage (as I am unable to handle the thermoformed canopy):

The F4U-14.1 is one of your most delightful models yet, Tophe!

The configuration is wonderful and must come from an imagination of great depth.

The icing on the cake for me is the tinted canopy which really works well with that lovely pale color scheme.

Nice to see you starting another project. Your son is not only a talented model builder but he's got some photography skills too!

Thanks Brian, but I must confess it is the opposite: coming from a completely insane brain of mine... ??? The layout is justified "technically" by the new nose, for a crew-man on his back, pedalling to increase the speed of the propeller through gears and shaft... :uuu: Your judgement "sane mind" is dangerous for your staying in liberty, the risk being to follow me in the psychiatric asylum ;)

The Double-Rammer model is taking shape seriously. Uh, no: not seriously, I mean asymmetrically, imperfectly, but I was meaning: solidly.

Thanks a lot, Brian! It was 1 full week ago but I have done nothing since then, as I had no more glue to attach the tailplanes. Maybe tomorrow, as I have bought the glue this afternoon.

Update at last... ??? The model broke many times... It was not solid enough with round-section fuselages just on horizontal areas (top of wings), so I added parts of sprues as extra junctions (in Real life: electronic boxes/devices) and it seems all right now, ready to paint... :)

I like your engineering solution for dealing with the rounded fuselages, Tophe! I may have to borrow it sometime...

You always have such incredible ideas, mon ami!

I really like that shade of blue too!

Thanks!

The other side is painted, with a complicated camo (for flights over the Sky Sea or frozen methan blue clouds, very famous here on Venus planet).
