Title: NATO's LanceR- a Romanian MiG 21MF in 1/48

The kindly folks at Icaerodesign approached to review and build their recent conversion set that allows one to build a Romanian version of the famous MiG fighter. They gave me an Eduard "overtrees" kit, their resin conversion and and an extra baggie of resin treats. Some how I missed the start of this one which is strange for me. I did a project like this a couple of years ago (the Czech "Splinter MiG"), I wish had this as a guide back then...I did the air brakes wrong!

Elmayerle, the Eduard kit is all new tooling, and a real Cadillac of a kit. The Brassin stuff is gorgeous, and the Icaerodesign set allows you to not only model a great color schme, but you don't have to paint any of that Russky puke-turquoise interior color. ;)

Once I move a mountain or two, I'll be back with more MiG madness- cheers!

I won't say it was entirely easy, but we've persevered. I was able to get back to the bench in early December, but this is the first time I've been ready to post again- read on!

Side notes: Those grooves in the wing were for a fiber-optic lit version that was never produced. That also explains some odd moldings on the two fuselage bulkheads. There is also a bulkhead to close off the cockpit front included on the clear parts sprue! It's not mentioned in the instructions- a friend pointed that out to me.

I suspect they are actually part of the Elisra SPS-20 warning system fitted to the LanceRs.
