Borgward "Gnitze" Anti Tank Guided Missile Platform - Done
« on: January 03, 2021, 12:39:26 PM »
Remember this ?

IT.... IS.... ALIVE !!!!

Albeit in a different form.
PSR/painting on the Hardrada Gyro and awaiting the postman for the Matilda has them sitting aside.
Looking for a quick project I found the Borgward and started thinking again, then decided to try something different... Missiles !!!
Late WW2 Germany wacky (and not so wacky) research was moving onto the ATGW area with the X-7 rottkapchen and also the Ruhrstal/Kramer X-4 AA missile which also confusingly proposed an X-7 AT version. Having previously built the Rottkapchen version for another vehicle, decided to go the groovier looking X-4/X-7 version.
Example of X-4 at Cosford

Fleshed out the vehicle a bit more with an operators station

External Missile. Missile is a 1/72 modern slick bomb with some plastic card wings.. Good enough

Why not use the Demolition charge housing as a possible "Containerised Weapon System". I figured the control wires could be a simple electrical connection to the joystick in the operators compartment.

Nice pivot from recoilless rifle to ATGMs.

Well that fell together well from a build point of view.
Overview of added detail

Post Paint shop

One with a figure to scale it out... quite a small vehicle

Very nice !!  The concept is great, the weathering and chipping are very well done. Great model all the way around.

Really, really nice. I like the use of the former charge container being repurposed for the missiles. One of the
East European companies made a set that had a pupchen, fliegerfausts, and a couple of X-7s back in the 'nineties, but I've only seen it once.

Great concept, build and finish! The chipping really make it look like it's made of metal.
