Unkown Focke Wulf Schnellbombers
« on: February 28, 2012, 08:44:24 PM »
Hi all.
I'm currently working on 2 Schnellbomber designs that were totally new to me until recently.
Of course when I say 'unkown', obviously they are no longer unknown... ;)

The project number is unknown, although the monica Fw 'P222' seems to have been adopted with a nod probably to the
proposed engines i.e. Junkers Ju222.

Apparently there were at least 4 designs but drawings for these two are the only ones to have been found, so far...

Many thanks
P

Hi JP and Doom.

I tend to agree. It looks like some huge sinister bird of prey, especially the front view.

I wonder how you would go building that in plastic.  Maybe start with a Ta-154?

I'd start with a mix of Do-217 and Ju-288.  The design does seem to bear a passing resemblance to a Fw-191; so you might want to start, if you can afford it, with the Planet Models kit of that one.

Has the late WW2/post war look of last iterations of prop designs.  Best of the props era.  Biggest engines etc.....

Wow Flitzer, she looks great and powerful!!
The kinked wing (frontal-view) profile looks awesome!
Those nacelles look huge, and adds to the perception of power!
If they were this big, I'm thinking you could probably utilize them for fuel storage - as well as the engine and main landing gear!!
This will leave more room for the offensive bomb-load!!

You may have a point MAD.
My drawings are from the original Focke Wulf sketches/scale views, so maybe they included a little perspective, hence the engine nacells looking so big, but I could be wrong and probably am... :)

In the meantime I've almost finished the design 2 and have got a bit further on the first design.
I've tried a new camouflage scheme. I had in mind a sort of summer tundra.

Many thanks

You know what is odd?  That looks so close (right down to the shape of the canopy etc) to some imaginary designs I drew when I was young that you would think I was somehow channeling the spirits of the designers... ;D
