Discuss.
Dr. J. suggests a B-34 or B-37 (Watch, I hope to drop this one onto Hyperscale in the next few months) circa 1943 and Mosquito fighters in early '45.

I assume you are referring to the Tuskegee Airmen?
If so, then how about P-38s instead of P-51s?
-
Yes. And including the theory they continued on as a group for some time post WW-II.
-
Well for something a bit out of left field but sticking with the escort role, how about a post war option of Lockheed XF-90s?

I am sure one of you photo manipulation guys could even give this the appropriate scheme.

Lets assume the AF kept segregated and you could see red tailed F-100's , 104s, 105s and F-4 's in their Viet conflict camo.
For Korea, the 99th and 332nd might very well start right back with Mustangs and go to the Sabre.
Actually ADC had Red Tails and wings from the 50's onward so there might have been some cross-dressing going on. The F-89 's had very prominent red arctic survival markings and some SAC machines too.

The most straight forward one would be the wingtip-mounted ramjet? Or perhaps an USAAF adaptation of the Ryan Fireball or Dark Shark (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XF2R_Dark_Shark)? >:D

Lets assume the AF kept segregated ...
Which would fit right in with the alt.universe in the comic Ministry of Space. ;D

It's great what a little hint can result in.
What's even better is that I have recently purchased a 1/48 Collect-aire XF-90. Now I have an idea with what to do to it.

Well, if they had been branched out into the bombing role, a B-36 would be awesome!!!!!!
Keeping in WWII, a B-29 would be pretty nifty too.

Here's some suggestions: F-22 Raptor, F-15C Eagle, Mig-21 Fishbed, Su-27 Flanker & Mig-29M Super Fulcrum.

Spitfire XIVE
Hawker Tempest
P-47N
P-40Q
XP-40 (no chin intake)
F-35 JSF
Eurofighter
I'd like to see the Spitfire and XP-40Q as profiles...

Think I read somewhere that some of the Tuskeegee units, in their earlier days, did fly P-40E's, 47B's, Spits (mk V),and even Airacobras for a short while. The Red Tail marking didn't actually appear until they moved from North Africa to Italy and the P-51 B, C and D.
A P-38 might be a good addition too.
