Beautiful Crusader.  I'm looking forward to your 1/72 A-7 sheet, I've got a couple kits awaiting it.

Buggering Hell!! ;D

Now I am going to have to build up a stash of Crusaders to go with the Corsairs!!

These are all absolutely stunning Richard.  I can't wait for the decal sheet.

Cheers

Thanks guys! Just so you know, the decal sheet will be 48th and 72nd scales on the same sheet. It will be A4 in size and chock full of low-vis "What if?" markings. The markings will primarily be for the A-7E Corsair, A-4F Skyhawk and possibly F-8 Crusader depending on space. I'm currently trying to make it as modular as possible for the greatest level of individual design possibilities. You'll see what I mean with the next profile I upload which will give you a pretty good idea of what you'll be able to do with the sheet just for the Royal Navy examples alone, not to mention the other nations that are coming in profile form.

Keep in mind that whilst I have shown A-7, F-8 and A-4 profiles here, there's no reason why one couldn't use these markings on an F-35, F-16, F-15, F-14, A-6 etc. Your own imagination will be your limiting factor. But with the plethora of "What if?" creators around these days the sky's the limit.

I myself intend re-creating some of the HMS Hermes A-7E strike wing on a carrier diorama showing the variations in camouflage schemes and squadron markings used on these missions. Imagine four Hasegawa A-7E Corsairs with their wings folded displaying various weapon loadouts and in varying stages of weathering. The desert schemes in particular would have suffered badly under the conditions they operated under showing a lot of chipping revealing the colour underneath!

All I need is a shark mouth and nose art! ;)

Am I the only one wondering how long it would take before someone starts asking for a F-8 analogue to the Sea Harrier FA.2?   ;D
Forget about his bow and arrows- why wait until that sparrow has done his deed when I can just bury him right now 'cause I'm sick and tired of hearing why he wants to have his way with the cock robin!?

You really know how to tempt me.  I've got a 1/48 F-4J that I haven't decided on a scheme for; your sheet will help with that, I suspect.

I really like that dark one, reminds me of the new USMC AV-8B scheme... which reminded me of the 1982 falklands harrier scheme... full circle!!  :D

Design 1.  Design 2 looks more appropriate for a dedicated "show bird".

These SLUFs are epically good!!!

Quite like the new design myself. Nothing wrong with showy. Esprit de Corps and all that!

All of em work with their camo but the high-vis one certainly isn't for combat but makes a nice CAG bird!  USN always has one full color aircraft per squadron, roundels and all.  Maybe try that for the blue tail bird?

Thanks guys. There seems to be a pretty even split with regards to these fin designs so I'll try and work out a way to include both.

Cliffy B, there has been a precedent set in 'the real world' with regards to combat aircraft flying with bright coloured fins. VA-153 flying the A-4C over Vietnam in early 1965 with similar type markings. Though you'd never catch be in such a hi-vis jet in combat!

A-7E+ = A-7E re-engined with F110?  If so, dry or with reheat?

She's a beauty, though.
