Russell Casse's Stearman-Boeing 75.

How the Citation should have read.

For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty:

On July 4th, 1996, 1LT Russell Casse USAF volunteered to pilot any available aircraft during the final attack led by President Whitmore on the alien destroyer ship bearing down on Area 51.

Rejected for a pre-existing medical condition, 1LT Casse took his personally owned aircraft to an unmanned munitions bunker and improvised static mounts for two AGM 65 Maverick missiles onto aircraft's wing roots. The Stearman-Boeing Model 75 was never designed to carry or launch ordnance like this and 1LT Casse took off well before the assault wave had launched.

Flying Nap Of The Earth, 1LT Casse had nearly reached the target when the assault wave became fully engaged. Within minutes most of the squadron was destroyed and the surviving aircraft reported all ordnance expended, but 1LT Casse was finally within range.

Knowing that his actions would ultimately result in his death, 1LT Casse flew his aircraft into the destroyer's primary weapon's beam. The ensuing premature detonation caused a chain-effect, which crippled the destroyer and brought the attack on Area 51 to an immediate halt.

His personal bravery in the face of deadly enemy pressure was significant in saving the lives of fellow aviators who were still flying against the enemy, as well as the ground crew and staff at Area 51.

Furthermore, by thwarting the Alien attack on Area 51 the main effort was able to sabotage the Alien command vessel. This ultimately caused their invasion of the planet to fail.

1st LT Casse's extraordinary heroism and uncommon valor are in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, the Volunteers who defended the planet and the United States Air Force.

This boxing was commissioned by a good friend who worked in film marketing, and he gave me one for my birthday years ago. It's a decent little kit for it's age, isn't it? Nice work- and cheers!

How soon you planning on dying (and tangentially, has anyone called dibs on your cool stuff yet?)?

I'm waiting on Progressives before I tackle the rigging on this one, supposedly they'll be finished Thursday.
