Another thought, since a drogue-deploying KB-47 was trialed, perhaps a squadron or two of these for inflight refueling of RAF aircraft?  You could stay with the standard 6x J47 engines or go with 4x Avon or Sapphire instead.  Perhaps, for refueling fighters and strike aircraft, adding drogue pods under the wings, in place of the drop tanks, in addition to the bomb bay installation and be able to refuel three aircraft at once.

How about the RAF makes use of EB and RB-47 variants and sub variants supplied by the US rather than expending effort and treasure on conversions of indigenous types.  Another idea is the B-47C (as well as RB and EB variants) four engine concepts are perfected with British engines, i.e. Bristol Olympus or RR Conway for the RAF or even to provide an improved version for the USAF and export customers, i.e. Australia.  ;)

Boeing's design study evolution from the B-47C to versions powered by four J57's was what led me to suggest four Avons or Sapphires.  Of course, later efforts could replace those with Olympus and/or Conway engines.

Composite wing similar to the latest Boeing planforms and make it a twin jet.   Complete with those ziggy-zaggy aft nacelles.

Some modern anti shipping missiles.

make it a twin jet.

What about a development of the CL-52 that flew with the Orenda Iroquois turbojet:

Put an Orenda Iroquois on each side and then remove all the J47s.

Great idea ^

That would then free up the underside of the wings for fuel tanks and other stores that would not fit internally.  ;)

Or what about a radar-equipped nuclear or conventional armed GAM-63 Rascal armed anti-ship B-47?

Imagine Bell Aircraft Company deriving a conventionally-armed derivative of the supersonic air-to-surface GAM-63 Rascal missile! Or perhaps even more effective, a derivative of its RTV-A-4 (later X-9) Shrike!

I like the notion of a specialised anti-ship variant of the X-9 Shrike, because I’m thinking of a B-47 being able to carry two Shrike's on pylons between the inner twin engine pylons and fuselage!
The Shrike could reach a range of about 80 km (50 miles) at a speed of more than Mach 1.5 – well outside of the Sverdlov anti-aircraft guns!

I like this idea, perhaps as a USN PB3B carrying either modified X-8s or GAM-63 derivatives with ship hunting radar instead of the navigation system they had.  I can just see the prototypes in Deep Sea Blue and the production ones in Gull Grey and White.
