Soviet VTOL gunship *Finished*
« on: June 06, 2015, 05:48:22 PM »
Well, y'all have gone and done it.  All the great builds and comments has inspired me to build an aircraft (VTOL), which I have not done in 30+ years. It will also be my first group build. I dug out some kits from my stash upstairs (very very old kits) for an idea, don't have many aircraft kits, so it will not be super detailed.

Project Siberian Tiger - a SU-25 converted to VTOL.
After the development of a light weight - high output jet engine for the naval aircraft to be used on the new super carriers, the Soviet ground airforce used the new engine to develop a VTOL ground attack aircraft to replace the old Hinds.

Something like that......

Kits to be used - 1/48 SU-25
                         1/32 and 1/48 AH-64

Pictures to come soon !

No rotors, more like the V-22 with rotating jet engines mounted mid wing.

This is gonna be good!
All I ask is please close up the old intake around the guns so it doesn't look like someone stuffed a gun into the engines. You probably thought of that already.
I'll be watching this one!

Russian VTOL gunship -
My first aircraft in 30+ years, took me out of my comfort zone, but think I will stick to armor and hovercraft.

Guns in former intakes are top idea and Hollywood style.  Canted rudders add distinction.
